The Enterprise Data Management and Analytics (EDMA) team at Information Technology Services (ITS) within the University System of Georgia is seeking a Cloud ETL Developer. This role supports the collection, transformation, reporting, and warehousing of data from various source systems to deliver high-quality analytics to researchers and decision-makers in higher education. The Data Engineer will develop innovative data solutions using the Microsoft Fabric platform, focusing on data integration, orchestration, and transformation to establish a strong foundation for data-driven initiatives across diverse projects. The EDMA team is seeking a Cloud ETL Developer to support data collection, transformation, reporting, and warehousing for analytics initiatives in higher education. The role emphasizes data integration, orchestration, and transformation using the Microsoft Fabric platform to enable data-driven projects. Responsibilities
Data Pipelines – Assist in designing, building, and maintaining efficient and reliable data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric-centric data platforms and data warehouses. Collaboration – Work with EDMA BI analysts, business analysts, and Research Policy & Analysis team members to understand data requirements and deliver solutions. ETL – Develop and optimize ETL/ELT processes within the Microsoft ecosystem, using relevant Fabric solutions. Monitoring – Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and resolve issues. Data Quality – Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance in Microsoft Fabric environments. Documentation – Document data processes and workflows. API Integration – Integrate and manage APIs to facilitate data exchange between systems. Troubleshooting – Troubleshoot and optimize existing Fabric implementations for enhanced performance. Agile Principles – Apply agile principles to manage and deliver data engineering projects efficiently. Qualifications
Educational Requirements – Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Required Experience – 1–2 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, or Data Engineering disciplines in an enterprise IT environment. Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role. Understanding of Data Warehousing concepts like Data Vault 2.0 or Medallion Architecture. Experience with Power BI, including modeling, administration, security, dataflows, Power Query, and DAX. Experience in higher education settings. Experience with Ellucian’s Banner, Ellucian Ethos, PeopleSoft, Oracle, Workday, slate CRM, Element 451 CRM, or TargetX CRM. Experience designing and managing enterprise data warehouses and information systems. Experience implementing CI/CD using Azure DevOps or GitHub Enterprise (cloud). Master’s degree in a related field (preferred). 1–2 years of cloud platform experience (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) (preferred). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
ABILITIES – Ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. KNOWLEDGE – Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining complex data pipelines with Microsoft Fabric; basic understanding of data engineering concepts; solid experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling. SKILLS – Proficiency in SQL, Python, or other languages for data scripting, transformation, and automation. USG Core Values
