Overview Reservoir Geologist - CCUS and Energy Transition Focus

Primary Location: US-CA-Santa Barbara

Location flexible: Santa Barbara, Ventura, San Diego, Downtown LA, Long Beach, California offices, or remote from home office at the Company's discretion. Additional locations include US-CA-Ventura, US-CA-San Diego, US-CA-Los Angeles, and US-CA-Long Beach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaboration and mentoring are core to Geosyntec's culture. You may be asked to take on technical project delivery, project management, business development, staff management and mentoring tasks. Key responsibilities may include:

2D/3D seismic interpretation and wireline log QC (e.g., Petrel).

Create static geologic models using petrophysical inputs for CCUS applications (e.g., Petrel).

Assist in interpretation and analysis of geologic data including boring logs, geophysical wireline logs, geophysical surveys, and more.

Build geologic, hydrogeologic, and contaminant plume models using 3D geostatistical software (e.g., Earth Volumetric Studio [EVS], Leapfrog).

Communicate analyses through written reports and presentations (in-person and virtual).

Contribute to technical and process leadership of EPA Class IV permitting.

Task and project management, planning and implementing challenging subsurface modeling projects for remediation, groundwater management, CCUS.

Exploration and development in mining and oil & gas sectors.

Collaborate and assist in growing Geosyntec's CCUS business.

Client relationship management, stewarding relationships to generate repeat business, developing proposals and opportunities with new and existing clients.

Strategic planning and technical direction for multidisciplinary environmental projects, including CCUS.

Increase marketplace visibility through regulatory interactions, client engagement, professional organizations, and industry events.

Drive travel to client sites as needed to support projects.

Education and Licensure

Bachelor's degree in geology or related field (required).

Advanced degree in geology (preferred).

Professional registration (e.g., P.G.) or ability to obtain within 1–2 years of start date (preferred).

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

At least 7 years (8+ preferred) direct environmental consulting experience in the Western United States, or equivalent.

Demonstrated experience with subsurface geologic modeling (required).

Class VI compliance and permitting experience (preferred).

Experience managing projects with resource allocation, quality, technical oversight, and financial management (required).

Success in developing new business and managing clients (preferred).

Experience presenting at industry events and to clients (preferred).

Experience managing multi-disciplinary project teams (required).

Experience mentoring and managing professional staff (preferred).

Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel to client facilities as needed (required).

Expertise with Petrel seismic interpretation and static modeling (required).

Expertise with 3D modeling/visualization software (EVS, Leapfrog, etc.) (preferred).

Proficiency in scripting languages such as R, Python, SQL, or Matlab (preferred).

Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and refreshers (preferred).

Fieldwork and overnight travel may be required; health & safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug/background testing may be required.

Valid U.S. driver's license and satisfactory driving record for business travel (required).

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Compensation ranges (Location-specific) are provided below as indicative ranges and may be adjusted based on education, experience, and location:

Ventura: Minimum $91,505 / Maximum $153,725 per year.

Santa Barbara, San Diego: Minimum $95,865 / Maximum $161,055 per year.

Long Beach, Los Angeles: Minimum $100,225 / Maximum $168,370 per year.
