Astrion Position: Software Engineer
Contract: Missile Defense Agency
Location: Schriever Space Force Base, CO
Job Status: Part-Time; Casual (Hourly / Non-Emempt)
Job Details Astrion is looking for a Software Engineer to support The Missile Defense Agency in beautiful Colorado Springs. We are looking for a team-oriented member with a background that includes Programming, Cross Domain Solution Activities, System Administrator Experience (familiarity, but certs arent required), and Software and System Integration. Our matrixed environment blends analysis, requirements development and implementation of cutting-edge complex systems. This includes the thrill of researching, designing, developing, testing and evaluating computer software and related hardware. Did we mention the opportunity to direct and coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems? Required Qualifications / Skills
Current DoD Security Clearance: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related technical discipline plus 6+ years of experience or a Masters Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics or related technical discipline plus 4+ years of experience
Experience with software development using C++, LINUX, and Shell Scripting
Experience with software development in Linux and/or Windows environments
Desired Qualifications / Skills
Familiarity with RHEL
Familiarity with Python, Pearl, Git, MATLAB, SIMDIS, Microsoft Office
System Administrator Experience
Desire to work in a DoD, Team-Oriented environment
Responsibilities This position offers the Developer a unique opportunity to work in an elevated classified environment on cutting-edge MDA technology. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player, self-motivated and flexible in a dynamic environment where programming, development, analysis and test are matrixed together.
Collaborates with other software developers to analyze, estimate, design and implement features and user stories.
Works with the engineering lead in deriving technical details from functional requirements and scripting tools to refine system efficiencies that support in-depth analysis.
Participates in iteration planning meetings with testers and Subject Matter Experts (SME), recurring stand ups, and technical coordination meetings for reporting issues, planning, and providing status.
Works with SMEs and project management in analyzing new functional requirements while providing feasibility assessments and level of effort.
Works hand-in-hand with software architectural owners to ensure all development meets architectural vision and system designs.
Contributes to technical design documentation and maintenance of the software.
Other duties when needed upon request from management.
