AWS Cloud Engineer Secure & Scalable Infrastructure
ZipRecruiter, Ashburn, Virginia, United States, 22011
Overview
Brightline Interactive is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer with a passion for building, automating, and scaling secure cloud infrastructure. This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll design, implement, and support highly available, production-ready environments in AWS and AWS GovCloud. If you thrive on solving complex challenges, automating everything with Infrastructure as Code, and deploying Kubernetes at scale, this is your chance to work on cutting-edge cloud solutions that directly support defense, government, and spatial computing innovation. Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure in AWS and AWS GovCloud. Automate infrastructure with Terraform, Packer, and Ansible, building reusable, modular code for repeatability and scale. Architect and manage multi-tier VPC environments, including Transit Gateways, VPNs, Direct Connect, and hybrid cloud setups. Deploy and operate EKS clusters at scale, optimizing autoscaling, ingress controllers, secrets management, and container security. Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, FluxCD) to support modern DevSecOps workflows. Troubleshoot complex distributed systems, from network and performance issues to container-level debugging. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contributing automation, templates, and best practices for team-wide adoption. Required Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on AWS experience, building and supporting production infrastructure. Deep knowledge of AWS core services: EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, Route 53, ELB. Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Packer, Ansible). Strong expertise in Kubernetes (EKS), containerization, and container security. Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps toolchains. Expert understanding of IAM design and governance, including SSO, cross-account roles, and fine-grained permissions. Scripting skills (Bash, PowerShell, Python) for automation and integration. Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. Nice to Have
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional, DevOps Engineer, Security Specialty). Experience with zero downtime deployments (blue/green, canary). Background in Linux administration, OS hardening, and container security scanning. Familiarity with DoD/DISA STIGs and government security standards. Experience managing multi-account AWS environments and/or air-gapped deployments. Implement AWS security best practices and zero trust architectures, ensuring compliance with FedRAMP High, DoD IL4/IL5, and NIST 800-53. Deep knowledge of AWS core services: Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Config, SNS/SQS, EFS, EBS. Practical experience implementing cloud security controls, encryption, logging, monitoring, and automation. Solid knowledge of compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, DoD IL4/IL5, NIST 800-53). Why Brightline Interactive
Collaboration: Work with experts across engineering, defense, and immersive tech. Innovation: Push boundaries with cutting-edge cloud technologies. Impact: Build secure, mission-critical systems that power the future of spatial computing and defense technology. Growth: Expand your technical expertise while solving some of the most complex challenges in cloud infrastructure. This isn’t just another cloud role—you’ll have the opportunity to set standards, drive automation, and architect secure AWS environments. Clearance Requirement: Must be a U.S. citizen.
