Senior Principal System Safety Engineer - R10208882 at Northrop Grumman. Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance type: Secret. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time. This opportunity is contingent on program funding; start dates are determined after funding confirmation. Responsibilities

Apply knowledge, methodologies, and principles of safety engineering as defined in MIL-STD-882E and Software Safety engineering as defined in the Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH). Evaluate product systems, associated support equipment, functional specifications and operations to establish safety criteria for assigned systems. Independently analyze system design, equipment, and procedures for hazards and categorize hazard risks in accordance with MIL_STD-882E. Assess implementations for hazard and causal factors to satisfy critical system safety objectives. Collaborate with various design teams in the execution of MIL-STD-882E hazard analyses. Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation for system safety and in support of Airworthiness Certification IAW MIL-HDBK-516. Review Test Plans and Procedures for safety requirements verification and potential hazardous operations. Perform hardware/software safety analyses (Experience in AGILE development). Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related experience, or Master of Science with 6 years of related experience, or PhD with 4 years of related experience. Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance (DoD in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required within a reasonable period. Experience with MIL-STD-882. Familiarity with analyses such as preliminary hazard analyses, function/system/subsystem hazard analyses, fault tree analyses, software system safety analyses and/or safety assessment reports. Ability to analyze, recommend, and drive safety into system design, equipment, and procedures to mitigate or eliminate hazards. Experience in requirements development, system/software architecture, hardware/software design, software code implementation, test, verification, and validation. Demonstrated ability to develop, review, update and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering or Computer Engineering. Familiarity with DOORS, Cameo, CPLM; Safety and Reliability tools such as PTC Windchill Quality Solutions; Agile tools such as JIRA, FISHEYE and Confluence. Experience in military Flight Safety including Flight Safety Officer / Maintenance Safety / Mishap Investigation Certifications. Strong working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and Industry standards (e.g., DO-178B/C, DO-248, DO-254, ARP-4754, ARP-4761, MIL-HDBK-516C). Working knowledge of flight test engineering, software systems integration engineering, and software test engineering. Working knowledge of detect and avoid systems and standards such as DO-365. Experience in Hardware/Software Integration. Experience in military aviation. Compensation and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00. The salary range is a general guideline; offers consider scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market conditions. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Long Term Incentives may apply for VP/Director levels. Benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays and PTO.
