Overview
Nuclear Systems Reliability Program Architect – Active Clearance Required We have an opening for a Nuclear Systems Reliability Program Architect with responsibilities for leading a large technical team applying advanced technical knowledge in support of ongoing operations and modifications in the Superblock, a DOE Hazard Category 2 nuclear facility. You will interact with management levels within, and external to, the Superblock to establish projects, develop budgets, and manage execution. This role is in the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED) within the Engineering Directorate. Responsibilities
Apply innovative methods and technologies to address a diverse range of highly complex problems, often requiring in-depth analysis of tangible and intangible factors. Lead the resolution of conflicting work requirements and prioritize tasks toward long-range targets. Support significant R&D projects by applying expert knowledge to create mechanical solutions that are safe and compliant with DOE orders and specifications. Provide technical leadership and direction to nuclear systems reliability managers, engineers, and staff in planning, design, and execution of reliability programs, predictive maintenance tools, maintenance actions, and facility/equipment upgrades. Oversee a portfolio of projects by exercising independent judgment in determining methods and allocating resources. Provide high-level technical oversight over teams performing calculations, analysis, and testing of programmatic and nuclear facility equipment, including vibration, thermography, data trending, testing plans, procedures, and safety calculations. Develop, implement, and maintain a reliability-centered maintenance approach to determine optimal maintenance activities and provide recommendations on system health through predictive maintenance. Lead and mentor a team to ensure safety and efficiency within DOE and Superblock policies. Monitor performance to meet critical milestones and deliverables, lead corrective actions, and manage project scope, schedule, and budget. Lead and participate in Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and RAMI analyses to improve system performance across design and operation. Engage with stakeholders for requirements gathering and validation; collaborate with Superblock management, program leads, and facility managers to align resources and resolve conflicts. Develop and implement new ideas, metrics, KPIs, and innovative approaches that impact organizational operation. Provide advanced technical leadership to solve highly unusual, complex, and sensitive problems and contribute to facility needs. Lead strategic planning, goal setting, and resource allocation for long-range objectives. Serve as an organization spokesperson and senior technical expert for Laboratory management and external customers. Advise on high-level strategic technical decisions. Qualifications
Active DOE Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance at time of hire. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience. Proven ability to lead development of innovative principles in nuclear systems reliability. Significant experience with hazard category 1 or 2 nuclear facilities and technical responsibilities including calculations. Experience leading a multi-disciplinary technical and administrative team in nuclear facility engineering and maintenance programs. Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills to lead a diverse team and advise senior management. Experience building and motivating cross-disciplinary teams and interacting with DOE oversight and senior management. Experience applying and leading configuration management in nuclear safety. Knowledge of conduct of engineering/maintenance/operations with strong implementation experience. Additional Qualifications at the SEL.5 Level
Experience resolving highly unusual, complex issues with in-depth analysis and innovative approaches. Experience developing and leading cutting-edge principles with organizational impact. Expertise in strategic planning and decision-making to achieve program objectives. Experience applying state-of-the-art principles and technologies. Qualifications We Desire
Advanced degree in engineering or related field. Qualification as a Cognizant Systems Engineer in a nuclear facility. Thorough knowledge of 10 CFR 830 and DOE policies, procedures, regulations, and standards. Additional Information
