Thanks for your interest in Oklo! We are searching for a Security Engineer to join our team. We are looking to fill this position immediately. Description A Security Engineer at Oklo is responsible for assessing, designing, and justifying the effectiveness of site security at facilities possessing special nuclear material. The work requires a creative mindset to envision challenges against a security system and develop justification of control measures that provide adequate assurance of protection. Design and compliance of security systems responsible for the protection of special nuclear material involves navigating U.S. nuclear regulations and guidance to produce defensible security plans against complex challenges. Collaboration is necessary as a member of the broader engineering organization at Oklo, with emphasis on understanding system interdependencies across interrelated facilities. Responsibilities
Assess threat environments with an analytical mindset for substantiation. Design and justify security controls to protect special nuclear material, in alignment with applicable regulations and guidance (e.g., 10 CFR 73, 10 CFR 70, NRC Regulatory Guides). Communicate nuanced technical content clearly in multiple forms. Collaborate within a fast-paced, iterative startup environment and with a dynamic team; welcome feedback and growth. Support and participate in the broader security program and integration with other engineering disciplines. Maintain flexibility and openness to new ideas; operate in a highly collaborative team setting. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical experience. Familiarity with capabilities of firearms, explosives and tactical equipment. Experience with regulatory compliance and national threat policy. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. Eligible and able to maintain access to safeguards information. Bonus Qualifications: Military or law enforcement experience. Recent experience with demolition methods. Experience with adversary analysis or “red team planning.” Experience as a force-on-force member or observer/controller. Experience with tabletop and scenario development. Familiarity with implementation of NIST control frameworks. Current national security information background investigation or safeguards access. Oklo Inc. is developing fast fission power plants to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy at scale; establishing a domestic supply chain for critical radioisotopes; and advancing nuclear fuel recycling to convert nuclear waste into clean energy. Oklo was the first to receive a site use permit from the U.S. Department of Energy for a commercial advanced fission plant, was awarded fuel material from Idaho National Laboratory, and submitted the first custom combined license application for an advanced reactor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
