This opportunity supports a team of Application Engineers, Database Engineers, Information Systems Security Engineers, Network Engineers, Software Engineers, System Administrators, Systems Engineers, Technical Writers, by supporting the full life cycle of IT resources. Job Description: We are looking for a senior software developer looking to join a small, dedicated team taking an important operational system to the next level. This program currently supports a modern and expanding tech stack that include Java / Java Spring, AWS, Angular, Hibernate, PostgreSQL, Docker/Swarm (converting to Podman) and JHipster, a free and open-source application generator. Java is required, but you will be able to come up to speed on some of the other technologies and needed. This is NOT maintenance. The program is getting new requirements as its success continues. Current incumbent staff are there to provide guidance and a productive, dynamic work environment, but looking for candidates who are self-starters and enjoy expanding their knowledge and responsibility. This task is part of an 8-year program that will have legs and allow growth and long term stability at an easy to access location. Responsibilities
Use object oriented techniques, programming languages, and standard methodologies, including classic development, waterfall, and agile methods (Extreme programming). Perform deployment, installation, maintenance, quality control monitoring, and implementation of software at Government specified locations. Maintain processes to log and track customer service requests. Maintain/develop software products to be used on a variety of platforms. Uses Configuration Management (CM) tools, such as Subversion/Trac or Git Codes in XML/XSD Applies middleware technologies, such as enterprise service bus (ESB), CORBA, or Internet Communications Engine (ICE) Uses Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), such as JBuilder and/or Eclipse Design, develop, and document system and subsystem-level code, including support for requirements, design, data dictionaries, interface control documents, user manuals, maintenance information, operations information, program code, and test/QA activities Develop customer requirements and information needs into software specifications that can be implemented Maintain/modify software code to add features, correct errors, or improve system performance Integrate with other signal repositories when prioritized by the Government Perform system and unit level testing, including test plans and procedures, documentation of results, and regression testing after code modifications Proficient with Linux/UNIX is required Development experience (C++, Java, XML/XSD), scripting languages (Python or Perl), Java GUI development, and Web framework experience (e.g., Spring Framework) is required Interacts with project customers and stakeholders to report project status and manage subsystem requirements Researches, evaluates, and assesses software tools and technologies such as FOSS, GOTS, and COTS, and integrates findings into the software design Implements SOA/middleware technologies (ESB, CORBA, SOAP, and ICE) Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university is required. A bachelor's degree and two (2) additional years of software related experience OR six (6) additional years of software related experience may be substituted for a master’s degree. Fifteen (15) years experience in software application design and development performing coding, debugging, testing and troubleshooting throughout the application development process. Twelve (12) years experience leading teams of software design and development for collection systems and components is required. Certifications
Requires DoD 8570 compliance Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification. Position requires active Security Clearance with appropriate Polygraph
