The Opportunity
Sr. Project Engineer at a Growth-Oriented Energy Company Reporting to the Project Engineering Supervisor Responsible for managing a variety of capital and maintenance projects Support the day-to-day operation of the refinery Develop, maintain, and apply subject matter expertise and capabilities to manage programs, cost estimates and budgets for pressure vessels, exchangers, piping, PRD's, valves, tanks, FFS analysis, cathodic protection, process chemistry, corrosion and materials Key activities
include: Developing economic justification for refinery improvements. Making recommendations for modifications to improve refinery operations. Identifying and developing refinery improvement projects. Performing and/or managing all phases of engineering projects from conceptual studies, process design, cost estimating, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, through startup. Directing in-house and contract engineering resources to execute projects efficiently. Administering and/or managing assigned refinery engineering/inspection programs. Providing project support for fixed equipment included in capital and expense projects Providing technical support for rotating equipment, fixed equipment, metallurgy selection, FFS analysis and damage mechanisms applicable to refinery operating business units. Developing/supporting project cost estimation and budgeting efforts. Responsible for framing sound and economically viable repair vs. replacement recommendations. Providing input into the development of rotating equipment reliability strategies. Providing subject matter expertise for Root Cause Failure Analysis investigations. Staying involved in industry organizations to stay abreast of new technology and trends related to fixed equipment. To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Please review eligibility criteria at Additional qualifications include: 7+ yrs experience working within a refining, chemical, or heavy industrial environment preferred B.S. degree in Mechanical, Civil, Reliability, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering preferred Significant project execution experience including scope development, cost estimation, equipment design and procurement, budgeting, and scheduling required Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, fired process equipment, pressure relief devices, valves and the factors that affect their reliability required Experience applying ASME/API/NBIC codes in the design, evaluation, and repair/alteration of equipment required Knowledge of refinery damage mechanisms, including working knowledge of API 571 preferred Knowledge and experience applying ASME B31.3 and Section VIII Div. 1 preferred Experience in performing Root Cause Failure Analysis required Knowledge and experience with Risk Based Inspection preferred Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization required Some overtime will be required, including weekends, and holidays during turnarounds and outages required Valid Driver’s License required About Us
