Overview
Director of Strategic Data and Evaluation at Los Angeles Unified School District. $157,350.00 - $194,910.00 Yearly Responsibilities
Directs the reviews of professional literature on educational research and reports results of evaluative data and research to District leaders. Supervises the planning, design, and completion of District formative and summative program evaluations and U.S. Department of Education-mandated program evaluations. Directs and guides schools and offices in establishing and developing processes for conducting local evaluations tailored to their evaluation needs. Works with senior District staff to identify evaluation needs and coordinates methods, processes, analysis, and implementation of research studies conducted within the District. Liaises with analytic partners and external research organizations to ensure data privacy policies are followed and to determine incorporation of findings into District programs. Liaises with District departments regarding ongoing and developing evaluation studies and the generation of reports to the State and federal agencies. Prepares Board reports of program evaluation findings. Develops and controls the Branch’s budget, supervises staff, and evaluates the Branch’s operational needs. Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum requirements
Education:
Graduation from a recognized college or university with a graduate degree in educational research or related field and at least twelve semester units or equivalent in test and measurements, statistics, or research methods. An Ed.D or Ph.D degree is highly preferable. Experience:
Five years of successful full-time professional experience including supervisory or management experience in a research and/or educational setting. Management experience in a large public school system or higher education in the field of research, management or evaluation is highly preferable. Special:
A valid driver’s license to legally operate a motor vehicle in California or ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation. Special note

The ideal candidate will manage a team in planning, design, and completion of District and U.S. Department of Education-mandated program evaluations, and must have strong management and leadership skills, plus excellent communication and writing skills for presenting findings to District leaders. The candidate should be able to build and maintain relationships with analytic partners, external research organizations, and various District departments. Required is the ability to analyze raw data, summarize it, and make recommendations for schools and offices. A solid background in academic research and familiarity with educational testing analysis and statistical methods are preferred, along with experience evaluating operational needs to develop and control the budget. Knowledge areas include: research design and methodology; advanced statistical methods; test development and interpretation; computer usage for data reduction, analysis, and display; public relations; and understanding of district organization and educational policy. The candidate should also be able to work independently, think creatively, manage time, and communicate effectively both in writing and orally. Application process
