Organization Founded in 1979, the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) is a leading non-profit organization (501(c)(3)) in the U.S. dedicated to defending and advancing the rights and opportunities of low-income immigrants and their families. NILC and the affiliated NILC Immigrant Justice Fund (IJF, 501(c)(4)) advocate for federal immigration reform policies and advance racial, economic, and gender justice and equity.

About The Position The Director, Political Strategy for the Immigrant Justice Fund (Director) will work with NILC’s Executive Vice President, Advocacy, the Vice President, Strategy & Partnerships, and the broader Advocacy area to lead the ongoing execution of the IJF’s political and electoral work within NILC’s strategic framework. The Director will integrate NILC IJF programs with NILC’s campaigns to advance immigrant rights, justice, and inclusion, align advocacy with NILC’s campaigns, and collaborate with internal and external partners. The role requires a deep understanding of the political landscape and compliance expertise for both 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) activities.

This role is not a member of the Bargaining Unit.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field, or relevant electoral/political campaign experience.

10+ years in electoral or political campaigns, with at least 4+ years of people management experience.

Experience managing national or statewide voter engagement campaigns.

Understanding of compliance requirements for 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations; strong budgeting knowledge.

Proficiency with political data, polling, and related technologies; ability to learn NILC IJF systems for data tracking, email, mobile, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising.

Strong political network within the progressive landscape.

Experience developing and implementing campaign plans with strategic focus and creativity.

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and environments; proficiency with MS Office and virtual collaboration tools.

Location & Travel Remote work locations include: Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Georgia, Maryland, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin. Applicants must reside in one of the listed locations. Up to 30% overnight travel may be required (typically quarterly to the NILC/DC office or elsewhere in the U.S.).

Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $128,800 – $161,000. NILC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including employer-paid health coverage for employees (and partial for dependents), dental and vision coverage, a 403(b) retirement plan with NILC contributions, paid parental leave, stipends, pre-tax benefit accounts, disability and life insurance, generous PTO (15 holidays and 22 days, increasing to 32 after 2 years), and Public Service Loan Forgiveness eligibility for full-time employees.
