Overview

IT & Network Engineer role at WABE. We are seeking a dependable and technically skilled IT & Network Engineer to support and maintain the organization’s IT infrastructure. This is a hands-on, one-person IT department role (with consultants/vendors as needed) who is responsible for network and system administration, cybersecurity, associated vendors/partners, and management of vendor supported help desk. Accountabilities

Hands-On Support & Maintenance: ensure continuous uptime for a 24/7 broadcast environment; may require after-hours, night, or weekend work to troubleshoot and maintain systems operations. Log and address support requests via the Support Desk tracking system. Facilitate employee IT onboarding, offboarding, and training. Respond to broadcast and on-air emergencies promptly, documenting and resolving incidents and service requests. Manage documentation, technical standards, and processes. Familiarity with Windows OS (Windows 10, 11, and Server). Work with the digital team on DNS, IP, and related changes. Collaborate on equipment management and lifecycle processes, ensuring up-to-date documentation. Manage WABE’s helpdesk and cybersecurity service providers. Maintain equipment for optimal functionality and troubleshoot issues across platforms. Network Architecture And Design

Develop and maintain the company’s network architecture to support media production needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network solutions for live broadcasts, content distribution, and data transfer. Experience with Microsoft Cloud, including Entra ID & O365. Deploy and maintain Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Application and Networking Services. Network Administration

Manage and maintain L2/L3 network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls. Perform routine maintenance and operational support for networks and servers. Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize for minimal downtime. Analyze system, server, network, and application usage and plan for capacity growth. System Administration

Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V). Manage Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VoIP, and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS. Security And Compliance

Implement and maintain robust security protocols to safeguard data and media assets. Stay updated on industry security standards and compliance requirements. Support the company’s cybersecurity program, cyber incidents and investigations. Use industry-standard tools (eDiscovery) to investigate cybersecurity incidents. Experience with cybersecurity tools such as MimeCast and KnowBe4. Experience with Fortigate firewalls and VPN. Server And Infrastructure Management

Oversee server administration, provisioning, maintenance, and performance tuning. Manage virtualization environments and storage solutions. Implement and manage video servers and digital asset management and storage systems to ensure connectivity, distribution, and streaming of multimedia. Backup And Disaster Recovery

Develop and execute backup and disaster recovery plans. Collaboration And Integration

Collaborate with multimedia teams to integrate IT and network solutions into production workflows. Vendor Management

Evaluate and manage relationships with technology vendors. Documentation And Training

Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, systems, and procedures. Knowledge and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (advanced degrees and industry certifications are a plus). Minimum 3 years’ experience in an IT department (7 years in lieu of bachelor’s degree). Strong knowledge of network protocols, security practices, and performance optimization. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Willingness to learn and implement current and new technologies, processes and methods. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Adaptability to changing technologies and business requirements. Experience in a broadcast or streaming environment is a plus. Experience with vendor management and evaluating new technologies.
