Principal / Sr. Principal Factory Modeling Systems Engineer
Location: Linthicum, MD. This is a dual level requisition that can be filled at Principal or Sr. Principal level. Travel: Yes, up to 10% of the time. Clearance: U.S. government security clearance required. Citizenship: U.S. citizen required. What You’ll Do
Create factory floor models, develop capacity planning models, validate master scheduling, and prediction accuracy. Integrate systems of factory planning tools for a manufacturing organization. Utilize capacity models to create wafer start plans for fab loading. Identify shortcomings in capacity models for the factory floor and adapt to changing needs in an R&D manufacturing environment. Design, collect data, analyze, and compile reports on WIP in a high-mix environment. Evaluate impacts of process changes to capacity models. Build and implement tools to evaluate manufacturing efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement. Optimize fab equipment capacity by performing fab-wide and tool-specific optimization studies. Apply systems engineering principles in daily work. Basic Qualifications — Principal Factory Modeling Systems Engineer
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with no required years. Experience in manufacturing microelectronics or semiconductor fabs, including experience with semiconductor CIM components. Exposure to capacity planning and/or factory capacity modeling specific to semiconductor or microelectronics manufacturing. Experience in production control, inventory control, process control, or shop floor control / MRP. Ability to lead meetings and act as an agent for change and continuous improvement. SQL proficiency to acquire data for model building and simulation. Experience defining requirements and technology roadmaps for internal stakeholders and external vendors. Ability to create test plans for requirement sell-off events. On-site work at 100% of the time; limited travel to local Northrop Grumman facilities may be required. Active U.S. government security clearance per business requirements. Strong skills in data mining, data analysis, and critical thinking to troubleshoot scheduling issues. Understanding of how factory planners use simulation and analytics for WIP scheduling in automated environments. Experience with industrial and systems engineering principles in capacity model and factory planning systems. Experience with Applied Materials SmartFactory CIM solutions. Strong understanding of Factory Physics in a semiconductor/microelectronics facility. Ability to perform multivariate optimizations on a model to optimize output and cycle time. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence). Compensation
Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $131,000.00 - $196,700.00 Note: The salary ranges are guidelines and depend on factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
