Overview Principal Auditor (Experienced Senior Auditor), Consumer Lending Audit (Hybrid) – Capital One's Audit function provides independent assurance to the Audit Committee. The team delivers value-added opinions and recommendations in a collaborative, agile environment, with a focus on growth and development for staff.

Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Principal Auditor to join the Consumer Lending Audit team. The candidate will focus on audits that involve operational, compliance, and risk management related audits for the Capital One Card and Auto Finance business across the US, Canada and UK.

Responsibilities

Lead small audits over the Card and Auto Finance business, or own completion of significant components of larger audits.

Develop engagement planning documentation to communicate rationale for scoping decisions and develop audit programs for adequate risk coverage.

Design and execute audit procedures to verify the effectiveness of internal controls.

Document auditee processes and procedures, review and analyze evidence, and identify potential issues.

Leverage data and analytical tools during planning and fieldwork to provide stakeholders with assurance, advice, and insight.

Prepare clear, organized documentation to support work performed, including draft findings.

Establish and maintain good client and team relations; effectively communicate audit progress to team, clients and the audit lead.

Self-prioritize and plan work across the team, manage multiple priorities, and proactively take on additional work to support the team.

Provide coaching, on-the-job training, and feedback to audit staff, including junior associates and recent hires.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or military experience

At least 3 years of experience in auditing; at least 3 years in accounting; at least 3 years in risk management; at least 3 years in compliance, or a combination

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 2 years of experience in leading audits and serving as auditor-in-charge

2+ years in banking or financial services

1+ years of experience in data analysis, including analyzing large data sets using audit tools

1+ years of experience in performing compliance audits

1+ years of audit experience in credit card, payments, operations, auto finance, third party risk management, or a combination

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or CPA or CRCM or CISA or CBA

Additional Information

Hybrid role: associates spend 3 days per week in-person at an office listed in the posting. Fridays are enterprise-wide virtual work days; Monday–Thursday are in-person days for collaboration.

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries are listed by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. Locations: Charlotte, NC; McLean, VA; Plano, TX; Richmond, VA; Riverwoods, IL.

Candidates hired in other locations will be paid according to the location pay range and offer letter.

This role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, including cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
