The Analyst, Americas LNG is a multi-dimensional position within Shell Energy Integration and Fundamentals (SEIF) Global Gas Fundamentals team in support of Shell’s LNG Marketing and Trading (SLMT) businesses. The SEIF team delivers decision support to SLMT and Shell Energy, centered on LNG and global gas market fundamentals. SEIF has global accountabilities and a globally dispersed structure, across major trading hubs. The Analyst, Americas LNG will be based in Houston, USA and work collaboratively across a global team to drive commercial value through fundamental insights and analysis.

What You’ll Be Doing

Americas LNG Exports: Develop, execute and deliver America LNG export monitoring and forecasting. Focus on the short-term market horizon covering operating and under-construction projects. Leverage existing tools and develop new monitoring products to analyze the performance of export facilities within the Americas, with heightened focus on US Gulf LNG export plants. Interpret data and communicate key messages to relevant trading desks and analytical communities in a clear and timely fashion.

Americas LNG Import Forecasting: Deliver bottom-up, sectoral forecast of supply and demand for LNG importing countries in the Americas (Central and South America, the Caribbean). Build/upgrade demand models and dashboards, and establish an industry-leading view on domestic market policy, infrastructure developments, contractual dynamics and analysis of upstream development and pipeline imports (including cost competition).

Additional accountabilities: develop alternative market outcomes and scenarios, engage with external forecast vendors, participate in SEIF’s global team connects & commercial stakeholder engagements, provide backup supply coverage, support the Shell LNG Outlook, and develop material for external engagement. Travel within the Americas and to other Shell offices may be required.

What We Need From You Working in SEIF Fundamentals requires a deep passion for energy market analysis with a focus on delivery, the ability to work within tight time windows, sharp communications skills, a global perspective, and the ability to stand by a view while acknowledging when it is wrong. The trading floor environment requires resilience, speed, and awareness of the financial impact of decisions. The successful candidate should have the following skills, experience and disposition:

Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

Advanced degrees in econometrics, energy economics, international economics or energy policy are preferred, or 5+ years of relevant experience

Proven experience in energy market fundamentals, preferably in North America gas or global LNG markets

Excellent numeracy skills; familiarity with statistical concepts and programming packages is an advantage

Strong skills in strategic storytelling and narrative development, with the ability to deliver clearly in written and verbal form

Comfortable forecasting under uncertainty and adapting to new information

Spanish language skills are an advantage

What We Offer The base salary range for this position is $122,000 - $182,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity. Benefits include medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs, a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave of 16 weeks for birthing parents and 8 weeks for non-birthing parents. Short-term disability for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay and Long-Term Disability insurance are available. Shell offers other reimbursement benefits, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
