Credit Manager – Renewable Energy
— Location: Annapolis, MD (Hybrid) This renewable energy investment Credit Manager position is a newly created opportunity within an industry leading and publicly traded organization based in Annapolis, MD with over $14 billion in managed assets. This individual will work in the Investment Group on the Credit Team to originate, structure, negotiate, and grow the investment portfolio including utility scale solar, distributed solar and storage, and energy efficiency technologies. This opportunity offers a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office) and a base salary in the $150,000 to $175,000 range plus a 15%-25% annual bonus, world class benefits, and excellent career mobility. Ideal candidates will have 5 or more years of professional experience including focused experience in asset-based lending, renewable energy, or structured finance. Job Description
The core responsibilities of the role will include leading the bidding, conversion, and closing processes while overseeing the structuring, negotiation, and execution of transactions. Work collaboratively within a deal team, reporting to a Director and, at times, overseeing a junior team member, and communicating across internal business units to complete transaction responsibilities. Lead transactions through the entire lifecycle from initial qualification and bidding to conversion and due diligence, and through the documentation and closing process. Advance transactions and workstreams through the transaction cycle as a team member. Lead the initial transaction assessment within the Credit Team’s investment goals and communicate with the Director and Managing Director to determine an investment recommendation. Develop and implement a work plan to pursue the transaction and obtain a mandate from the client. Lead and oversee due diligence processes for investments including analyzing terms in underlying project agreements (service contracts, construction agreements, financing agreements). Oversee credit analysis on transaction counterparties and incorporate findings into transaction structure and documentation recommendations. Oversee a transaction execution plan with cross-functional teams (legal, accounting, and transaction management) and delegate tasks among team members. Be the point person on communications with external stakeholders including clients, transaction counsel, and leverage partners. Communicate feedback with the deal team and collaborate to develop and implement appropriate structuring and documentation steps. Support identifying and executing with leverage partners for transactions, including assisting in negotiation of documents, facilitating due diligence requests, supporting the closing process, and overseeing the financial model. Work with the Director to understand leverage parameters when qualifying transactions and developing transaction structures and documentation. Collaborate with the Portfolio Management team to provide transaction expertise for post-closing activities and assist in servicing of assets including modifications and consents; facilitate communication with clients and leverage partners. Coordinate with the Risk Management team to communicate risk considerations and mitigants for specific transactions and the portfolio overall. Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year institution. Industry experience within renewable energy investment, project development, energy transactions, or project finance. At least 5 years of experience in asset-based lending, structured finance and/or securitization. Mastery of MS Excel financial modeling with experience in debt and project finance models and ability to manipulate models on short timelines. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to distill and communicate information to team members and lead conversations with external stakeholders. Ability to work in the Annapolis, MD office on a hybrid basis three days per week. Additional Details
