Overview
Gould & Ratner LLP is seeking an equity Partner to join its Real Estate Practice. The ideal candidate will have significant experience representing property owners, developers, lenders, and investors in their acquisitions, dispositions, sales, financings, leasing, and development of commercial real estate. This role offers a practice handling all aspects of complex and sophisticated transactions for clients of all sizes and across industries, with a focus on business development and contributing to the Firm's succession plan. The role allows a flexible work schedule with a hybrid remote/in-office presence. Responsibilities
Represent property owners, developers, lenders, and investors in acquisitions, dispositions, sales, financings, leasing, and development of commercial real estate. Handle all aspects of complex and sophisticated transactions for clients of varying sizes and across industries. Engage in business development and contribute to the Firm's overall succession plan. Qualifications
10 or more years of experience practicing commercial real estate law. A portable book of business is required for this role. Strong real estate experience in a variety of transactional matters, including commercial office and retail leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, development, lending and financing; experience handling title, survey, environmental and entity real estate diligence matters. Additional experience in commercial lending and banking transactions (e.g., commercial real estate loans, asset-based loans, or other secured credit facilities) is a plus. Experience with entitlement, zoning, and tax issues as they relate to real estate and construction transactions is preferred but not required. Excellent writing and oral communication skills; attention to detail; self-directed; able to work efficiently on multiple matters. Ability to lead, negotiate, manage and close complex transactions; draft material agreements and documents. A drive for excellence and willingness to take initiative to solve problems. Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of interacting with clients as a business advisor throughout their life cycle. Candidates must be currently licensed in Colorado or Illinois, or licensed in another state with a UBE score acceptable for comity in Illinois or Colorado; be eligible to waive in, or be willing to sit for the IL/CO bar exam; relocation candidates who meet these requirements may be considered.
