Overview Truck Application Engineer role at Horton, Inc. Horton, Inc. has an opening for a Truck Application Engineer to work at our Corporate Headquarters in Roseville, MN. This is an onsite position Monday-Friday.

Position Summary: The Truck Application Engineer position is a professional engineering role with responsibilities in product development, field technical assistance, sales and manufacturing support. The Engineer works with customers, suppliers, and internally to customize Horton products to meet customer technical needs, supporting designs through all stages of development and production including assisting with the technical needs of sales, manufacturing, quality, and purchasing. Manages the release of products to meet customer requirements in a timely manner while ensuring compliance with customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Designs new products.

Works closely with customers to understand their needs and helps select the best product for their application. Modifies existing products and creates custom solutions to fit customer requirements.

Completes initial design work to provide engineering prints and models to the customer.

Coordinates and builds initial prototype designs.

Coordinates and performs testing and analysis to ensure Horton and customer design validation plans (DVP) and performance requirements are met.

Works with the quality department to ensure all PPAP requirements are met and provided to customers.

Manages the release of products into production through Horton’s product realization process.

Provides post-release support, including troubleshooting and diagnosing issues remotely and in-person.

Tracks project progress and manages project schedules.

Supports ongoing improvement of existing product designs and processes.

Provides technical expertise and voice-of-customer in support of product design improvements.

Develops tools to improve processes and products to increase throughput.

Provides design-related support to sales and management to respond to customer requests.

Attends sales and marketing planning meetings to discuss design needs and brainstorm ideas for meeting customer or market requirements.

Travels to customer locations with sales staff to observe applications and gather information necessary to address customer needs.

Attends trade shows and answers technical questions while staffing the trade show booth.

Participates in supplier screening and evaluation for Horton use, and provides field service to help customers succeed with product applications.

Provides on-site assistance to customers (dealers, OEMs, distributors, or fleet customers) experiencing application problems.

Provides field service to diagnose or repair equipment to meet client performance standards.

Meets with customer staff at various levels to resolve product application issues and reports field failures to aid design improvements.

Troubleshoots problems, identifies causes for warranty issues, and collaborates with teams to prevent recurrence.

Coordinates field tests to determine production-use suitability of new or improved designs.

Collects field performance information and documents detailed reports to inform engineering staff.

Provides technical training in support of Horton employees and supports overall company objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (4-year).

Minimum 2 years of experience preferred.

Travel approximately 10% of the time.

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship provided.

Compensation and Benefits The estimated hiring range for this position is $73,000 – $120,000 per year plus bonus. The starting pay for this role with no prior experience is $73,000. Compensation will increase within the range based on experience and qualifications.
