Title: Mainframe Programmer Location: Jersey City, NJ (local only) Duration: Fulltime They will work on different development squads in SPS. Their goal will be to provide mainframe support on mostly distributed teams who do not have any mainframe skills. The associate will learn the MF system, research issues, analyze code for new enhancements, and develop code for new enhancements. They will be helping out the Global Record Keeping teams. Responsibilities
Provide mainframe support on distributed teams lacking mainframe skills; learn the mainframe system; research issues; analyze code for new enhancements; develop code for these enhancements. Work with Fidelity Investments Workplace Investing (WI) organization within Stock Plan Services (SPS) Technology to make quality improvements to the equity compensation application. Collaborate as part of an Agile team, performing requirements gathering, development, and end-to-end testing. Define, develop, and lead interactive team efforts to implement application-level architecture with emphasis on scalability and extensibility and adherence to standards. Provide on-site and on-call support as needed; act as a subject-matter expert within cross-functional crisis management. Develop applications on complex projects and subsystems within Stock Plan Services; contribute to development tooling and methodologies; validate test plans. Resolve technical roadblocks across multiple technologies and suggest future improvements. Collaborate with multiple management layers to share approaches, develop solutions, and enhance capabilities across the organization. Lead collaborative sessions with stakeholders; provide guidance and feedback to team members. Ensure QA readiness of software deliverables and plan and conduct system testing. Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems; establish full lifecycle project plans for complex projects across platforms; ensure projects meet on-time and on-budget goals. Advise on risk assessment and risk management strategies; coordinate project schedules and assignments for multiple projects. Act as a primary liaison for business units to resolve project/technology issues; provide technology solutions to daily issues and estimates for technology initiatives. Perform independent and complex technical and functional analyses for multiple projects; develop original technical solutions for ongoing efforts. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field; five or more (5+) years of experience in the job offered or five or more (5+) years of experience as a technical lead in mainframe brokerage or stock plan services systems and application development. Some experience and knowledge of ETL, Informatica, Java, Python, or other distributed languages. Demonstrated expertise in defining, developing, and leading an interactive team to implement scalable application solutions. Expertise in mainframe application development, automation, and support, utilizing COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL. Expertise in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning, including methods to reduce I/Os, CPU Time, MSUs, and MIPs, using tools such as Strobe, iStrobe, and Platinum Detector. Proficiency in mainframe development tools and processes, including File-AID, version management, debugging and unit testing tools, and job scheduling with Control-M. Value You Deliver
