This role offers an independent assurance function within the 2nd Line of Defense to assess and assure the quality of credit risk management across BNY’s lending portfolios. Responsibilities

Help deliver CRR’s mandate as an independent assurance function: assess the quality of credit exposures, evaluation and approval processes, credit ratings, and adherence to risk policies, standards, procedures and risk appetite. Exercise CRR authority: oversee override decisions on risk ratings, raise issues and track remediation, and provide assurance to regulatory authorities on credit assessment processes. Lead and participate in comprehensive credit risk reviews across lending portfolios; provide independent assessments of credit quality and policy adherence. Perform detailed independent credit analysis including financial statement, ratio, and cash flow analysis on borrowers in the reviewed portfolio. Ensure underwritten credits are properly risk-rated and aligned with the company’s risk policy. Identify early signs of credit and portfolio deterioration through risk assessments (industry, geography, etc.). Lead or participate in opening/closing meetings and communicate issues to senior management and lending portfolio credit risk teams. Stay current with applicable federal and state lending regulations and guidelines. Participate in CRR continuous monitoring, regulatory requests, and other independent third-party requests; work on projects assigned by CRR management. Demonstrate leadership through project management, analytical skills, and mentoring of less experienced peers. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (MBA, CPA, CFA or related certifications preferred). 7-10 years of relevant experience in credit risk review or related areas; prior credit officer experience with material individual credit authority is preferred. Experience in a major financial institution is preferred (US focus; international experience adds value). Completion of a credit training program preferred. Strong credit analysis skills and knowledge of various lending portfolios; expertise in (1) Private Banking lending, (2) real estate lending, (3) financial institutions, (4) counterparty credit risk. Strong communication, negotiation, and collaborative skills; pragmatic and commercial approach. Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range is expected to be between $83,000 and $130,000 per year, with individualized determination based on experience and location. Total compensation may include commissions, discretionary bonuses, incentive packages, and company-sponsored benefits.
