Position Overview:
SunVest’s Project Finance team is responsible for conducting financial and economic analysis and securing project financing to support the construction and long-term operation of our portfolio. The team has raised over $400 million of capital in the last 2 years, forging relationships and an industry-leading reputation among the nation’s leading banks and private investors in the energy transition.
As the Senior Associate, Project Finance based in our Chicago HQ, you will report directly to the Manager, Project Finance and collaborate closely with teammates and cross functionally. You will prepare and deliver financial analysis of new projects and markets, structure and execute debt and tax credit financings, and work directly with SunVest’s partners, lenders, and advisors to optimize financing structures and portfolio performance. Your expertise in modeling, financial acumen and strategic mindset will be pivotal to SunVest’s ongoing success, contributing to our sustainable growth strategy and the development of strategic plans for managing and improving renewable energy generation.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Modeling: Create and maintain complex financial models to evaluate project economics, cost of capital, cash flow projections, debt sizing and structuring, and other vital metrics.
Transactions: Work with lenders, investment bankers, legal counsel and other advisors to support transaction origination, due diligence and closing of financings.
Business Development: Partner with the development team to evaluate potential markets, acquisitions, and regulatory environments in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on opportunities enabled by policy provisions such as those established under the Inflation Reduction Act.
Market Analysis: Monitor and analyze market trends, interest rates, and regulatory changes impacting project financing.
Cross-Company Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, preparing presentations for internal committees and ensuring alignment of financial strategies across the organization.
Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with external advisors, financial experts, legal teams, and other stakeholders ensuring seamless communication and coordination.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in project / structured finance or investment banking; experience within the renewable energy sector or a related field (i.e., real assets) is a plus.
Expertise in Microsoft Excel, with a collaborative mindset and commitment to advancing technical skills to enhance processes and outcomes.
Excellent communication skills, adaptability in a high-performance, deal-driven environment, and the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
A deep passion for the renewable energy sector and a principled approach to fostering sustainable energy solutions.
