Senior Property Accountant (75K–80K | Hybrid | Dallas, TX)

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Senior Property Accountant for a client in the real estate industry located in downtown Dallas, TX. This role will oversee accounting for multiple properties and take the lead on financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis, while serving as a resource to junior accountants and property managers.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, have at least 3 years of property accounting experience, and possess advanced GAAP knowledge with hands-on exposure to student housing or multifamily assets. Responsibilities

Lead full-cycle property-level accounting, including journal entries, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

Prepare and review management fee calculations, monthly reporting packages, and budget-to-actual variance analyses.

Collaborate with property managers to ensure proper coding, accurate reporting, and timely resolution of questions.

Assist with cash flow analyses, budget preparation, and financial forecasting for assigned properties.

Coordinate annual audit and tax support by preparing work papers and reconciliations.

Partner with the Property Accounting Manager and Vice President on process improvements and system initiatives.

Provide mentorship and support to junior accounting staff as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

At least 3 years of real estate property accounting experience, preferably in student housing or multifamily.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to Yardi, MRI, or Entrata preferred.

Strong technical accounting and GAAP knowledge.

Ability to analyze complex data, communicate effectively, and work independently.
