Overview
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in establishing the company's core financial structure. This position is designed for a professional who is eager to roll up their sleeves, manage the day-to-day accounting activities, and also implement key financial processes that improve financial discipline across the organization. The ideal candidate will also have solid experience in both corporate and personal taxation. This is a foundational role intended for a candidate with strong operational accounting experience and the ability to support external audits, ensuring compliance with USGAAP, tax, regulatory, and maritime industry standards, while overseeing both compliance and cost optimization activities in a multi-entity logistics environment. Responsibilities
Oversee and execute daily accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Prepare and support external audits, ensuring compliance with corporate tax and treasury requirements Establish and monitor a procurement-to-pay (PTP) process to strengthen controls and approvals over company spending Partner with leadership to implement internal controls, segregation of duties, and authorization levels to support risk management Identify cost optimization opportunities, reduce financial leakage, and ensure spend accountability Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial data and provide insights to management Relocate and align existing finance team members under a unified structure, providing leadership and oversight Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal/external audit requirements Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, audits, treasury, and corporate taxes Demonstrated experience with procure-to-pay process implementation Proficiency in QuickBooks and strong Excel skills Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred Shipping, logistics, or related industries preferred Why Join Us?
