Overview
The Extension Associate, under general supervision, performs more advanced program delivery duties requiring specific subject matter expertise, allowing the program to maximize its impact on target communities. This role supports the development of educational resources, facilitates stakeholder engagement, and tracks progress toward grant objectives, ensuring the grant's goals are met efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities
Coordinate Ag Smart activities in collaboration with K-12 science educators, program specialists, project director and co-principal investigators. Incorporate Reusable Learning Objects into existing 4-H programs, particularly summer camps and school science fairs. Facilitate educational outreach (virtual and in-person) in various communities. Build new school and community partnerships for the Get Ag Smart Project. Perform other duties as deemed necessary. Required Education and Experience
Two years of related experience. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of word processing, database, presentation and spreadsheet applications. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of technology, tools and strategies to effectively conduct and market educational programs. Ability to function with minimum supervision and respond positively to policy, administration and supervision. Ability to cope with change. Ability to work with and through others is essential. Technical knowledge in STEM and/or agriculture. Demonstrated ability to communicate cross-culturally and to work with vulnerable youth groups. One to three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: 1) extension service, 2) research, 3) non-formal or formal teaching with K-12 audiences, 4) related experience in volunteer development, youth/adolescent development, national and community service with target audiences, program development in limited resource communities, children’s human services, child health and nutrition, youth sports and recreation, college and career readiness, cross-cultural and multi-cultural education, family and consumer sciences, child and family studies, adult teaching and learning, juvenile justice, poverty studies, racial-ethnic studies. One or more years of extension experience. Other Requirements
Access to a personal vehicle, obtain or maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License, appropriate insurance coverage and travel connected with official duties. Travel may be required, with reimbursement provided for gas mileage. Ability to lift moderately heavy objects and to exert heavy force. May be required to work beyond normal business hours and/or work on weekends. Application Details
