Ensure effective operation of the Student Financial Aid Office areas by advising the director on office operations, developing and recommending student financial aid policy, managing aid funds, conducting program evaluation, adapting the financial aid management system to maximize efficiency, collaborating with colleagues, and performing duties as assigned by the director. Promote a positive image of the Financial Aid Office by participating in administrative and professional venues and presenting to inform the public about financial aid programs and application processes. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations by assisting in preparing required reports and participating in annual audits. Stay informed on financial aid matters through professional reading and development, and attend training as needed. Serve as the primary point of contact for coordination and troubleshooting of student financial concerns for the department. Investigate and respond to difficult, sensitive problems and student complaints professionally. Troubleshoot processing issues within the financial aid system; maintain data management protocols and perform testing for system updates. Work with institutional offices to promote and inform students and staff of the financial aid function; strategize recruitment and retention efforts related to financial aid. Oversee and maintain the department operating budget in coordination with the Director. Formulate, implement, review, and evaluate policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with financial aid guidelines and objectives. Maintain day-to-day responsibility for the Colleague Financial Aid module, overseeing all systems processing. Select, supervise, train, and evaluate department staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Ability to communicate diplomatically, clearly and effectively, orally and in writing with a diverse population, and to project strong interpersonal skills. Managerial skills with an emphasis on team building. Demonstrated competency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and database management, with the ability to learn the Parkland College information systems, especially Datatel/Colleague, and new programs as technology changes. Ability to interact with parents, students, co-workers, Parkland staff, and government agencies on a professional level. Ability to handle sensitive or confidential material judiciously. Ability to represent the Office of Financial Aid and Veteran Services at internal and external functions.
