This role reports to the Head of Risk and involves leveraging AES Clean Energy’s large-scale renewable and battery storage portfolio to conduct quantitative risk analysis. What You Can Expect
As a Senior Quantitative Analyst, you will leverage AES Clean Energy’s portfolio to conduct quantitative risk analysis and support decision making related to renewables, PPAs, derivatives, congestion products, and related markets. You will develop and maintain statistical models to assess risk for renewable projects and more liquid and less liquid energy products, including RECs and capacity/RA deals. You will work collaboratively to create and own quantitative models and support infrastructure for both short- and long-term decision making. Main Responsibilities
Provide analytical support of the risk around structured transactions to execute the company’s strategy Perform historical analysis of electricity market prices to value basis risk in projects Forecast hourly prices using historical information and fundamental bases Develop risk models to value the combined uncertainty of wind and solar generation and hourly electricity prices Develop and implement storage bidding models and strategy Develop pricing models and analytical techniques for valuation of renewable transactions Develop and manage tools, systems and reports to support decision making Qualifications
3–5 years’ experience in competitive energy markets, preferably with renewables Bachelor's or higher in engineering, computer science, math, physics, economics, finance, or related field Knowledge of derivatives valuation, structured product pricing, and US power/commodity markets Understanding of renewable generation tech, especially solar and battery storage Strong grasp of cash flow, futures, forwards, options, and risk management principles (VaR, stress testing, backtesting) Experience with financial modeling, ETRM systems (Allegro preferred), and programming (Python, C++, R, SQL) Analytical, resourceful, and commercially agile with attention to detail Strong communication skills and ability to work under tight deadlines Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and adaptable mindset AES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
