General Information Corporate headquarters are in Dublin, CA, with 3 buying offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and Boston, and 8 distribution centers nationwide. General Purpose

Responsible for the management and supervision of all areas assigned by the Store Manager and adherence to policies regarding Customers, Associates and merchandising. Learn all phases of Store operations. In the absence of the Store Manager, the Assistant Manager leads the entire operation to ensure Company standards and best practices are met.

Essential Functions General Operating Requirements

Leads all Company Best Practices and maximizes productivity by minimizing steps and touches while working. Assists in analyzing Store reports to evaluate controllable expenses and overall performance. Communicates variances to Company standards to the Store Manager. Ensures proper scheduling of Associates to meet business objectives. Ensures compliance with all State, Local and Federal regulations. Ensures scheduling and completion of all Associate cleaning tasks throughout the store, including restrooms. Accepts special assignments as directed by Leadership. Responsible for payroll administration including daily punch edits, scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting as needed.

Organizational Development

Assists in recruiting, hiring, training and developing non-exempt Associates. Ensures compliance with Ross personnel policies and procedures. Assists with Associate Relations issues by communicating incidents to the Store Manager or District Manager as needed.

Expense Control

Assists in managing and continuously monitoring actual expenditures to stay within budget. Controls payroll hours to plan, as the primary controllable expense, and adjusts to current business trends.

Maintaining a Safe & Secure Environment

Prioritizes safety and practices safe behaviors. Ensures all Associates understand emergency operating procedures. Adheres to Company safety policies and ensures safety of Associates and Customers.

Customer Service

Treats Customers, Associates and leaders with respect. Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness and professionalism; recognizes Associates via Company programs. Executes Customer service and Merchandise Presentation programs through training and supervision. Supervises and coaches Retail Associates in providing efficient and friendly service at registers, Customer Service desk, fitting rooms, and sales floor.

Personal And Store Brand

Represents and supports the Company brand at all times. Maintains professional appearance per Dress Code and reinforces it. Manages store to maintain a clean, neat, easy-to-shop environment. Maintains high housekeeping standards with help from maintenance personnel and Associates.

Merchandise Processing and In-Store Marketing

Ensures recovery, sizing and markdowns meet Company standards; teaches, assigns tasks and follows up. Ensures merchandise is presented and organized per guidelines. Manages merchandise processing to the sales floor within the Company timeframe.

Loss Prevention

Provides Loss Prevention training and aims for store shortage goals. Safeguards confidential information and merchandise; demonstrates integrity in all interactions. Leads inventory preparation and execution and monitors stock policies. Ensures Public View Monitor system is maintained.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

Two or more years of Store or Assistant Store Manager experience in retail. Ability to supervise, motivate and communicate positively to Store Associates at all levels. Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and follow through to completion. Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment. Maintain high quality customer service. Fluency in English. Ability to work evenings and weekends. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

Ability to use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs as required. Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time. Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasional pushing/pulling and lifting more than 25 lbs. Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders; other qualifications may apply.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervision of all non-exempt Associates.
