About the role: In this role, the Associate Director will be leading exploratory R&D work developing next-generation platforms for Neuromodulation. Responsibilities will include managing a team of PhD-level scientists and engineers and working cross-functionally with colleagues in R&D, Marketing, Clinical, and PMO to drive innovation in devices for the treatment of neurological disorders, including Spinal Cord Stimulation and Deep Brain Stimulation. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include: Managing a team of PhD level scientists and engineers responsible for driving and executing complex neuromodulation research projects of the following types: Computational modeling studies Collaborative pre-clinical studies Exploratory clinical studies Collaborate cross-functionally to develop a strategy and roadmap for the aforementioned studies, aligning research activities with business objectives Lead the development and documentation of next-generation neurostimulation systems throughout exploratory and technology development phases Serve as a subject matter expert on neuromodulation therapies to support product development and regulatory submissions Build external collaborations with academic institutions or private partners as needed to answer scientific questions Required qualifications: Masters degree in neuromodulation, neuroscience, neuroengineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field and at least 10 years of professional experience in Research & Development, or a minimum of 7 years of R&D experience specifically within the medical device industry 5+ years' experience in a management role Proven success in leading early-stage product development for medical devices, driving innovations from concept through feasibility Extensive experience designing and executing pre-clinical and clinical research studies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and scientific standards Skilled in customer-facing collaboration, engaging directly with physicians, scientists, and other technical/medical professionals to gather insights and build strong partnerships. Ability to travel up to 25% Preferred qualifications: PhD in neuromodulation, neuroscience, neuroengineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field Prior experience with neuromodulation devices, including design, testing, or clinical use Track record of building and driving collaborations between industry and academia, including grant-writing and publications Strong public speaking skills; ability to deliver presentations to scientific and medical professionals Boston Scientific is an equal opportunity employer and will consider all qualified applicants.
