The Retail Designer reports to the Creative Director and brings in-store brand experiences to life through innovative retail environment and fixture design. This role is responsible for concepting, designing, and executing in-aisle displays, endcaps, POP signage, digital channels (including owned and retail sites), and merchandising solutions for big-box building products retailers, dealers, and events or tradeshows. As a hands-on creative, they balance design vision with practical execution, producing compelling retail solutions that engage shoppers and elevate brand presence within highly competitive retail environments. They translate creative direction and project briefs into well-executed retail design files that are accurate, brand-aligned, and optimized for in-store execution. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and comfortable working with CAD tools, they support the creative team by developing designs that align with established brand standards and retailer requirements, partnering with external vendors to prepare accurate production-ready files. They manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, are proven problem solvers, and consistently deliver high-quality retail solutions that support business objectives while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. About the Role:
The Retail Designer is responsible for creating innovative retail environments and fixtures that enhance brand experiences in-store. Responsibilities Execute Retail Environments & Fixtures: Assist in the design and development of in-store fixtures, displays, endcaps, and merchandising systems and modular displays for big-box home improvement retailers, dealers, and showrooms. Produce POP & Merchandising Creative: Create signage, in-aisle graphics, and merchandising materials following brand guidelines and retailer requirements. Prepare Production-Ready Files: Build accurate, organized design files, dielines, and specifications for vendor production and fabrication. Support External Vendor Collaboration: Partner with external vendors by providing clear design intent files and ensuring deliverables meet technical specifications. Apply Retailer Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to specific retailer guidelines (e.g., Lowe’s, Home Depot) and are optimized for in-store execution. Assist with Technical Drawings & Renderings: Use Adobe Creative Suite, CAD/3D software, and AI software (when applicable) to create visualizations and technical files that support project needs. Manage Multiple Projects: Organize and prioritize workload across several fast-paced projects while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality. Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross functional collaborators and external vendors to bring retail solutions to life that support overall campaign direction. Stay Organized & Take Ownership: Own the organization of your files, versions, and documentation to ensure projects run smoothly and handoffs are seamless. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Environmental Design, Graphic Design, or related field 5+ years of retail design experience, ideally within building products or home improvement categories Working knowledge of CAD/3D design software (SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar) and design-oriented AI software required Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) with ability to prepare production-ready files Portfolio showcasing in-store, fixture, and POP design for big-box retailers (e.g., Lowe’s, Home Depot) Proven ability to support external vendors and production partners with accurate design documentation Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow creative direction Ability to independently manage multiple projects with a positive, can-do attitude, and a strong work ethic Collaborative mindset and strong communication skills to work effectively across teams Details
