Overview
Global Commodity Manager (NGS Auxiliary Equipment & Instrumentation) – Mitsubishi Power Americas. Commodity management is a strategic approach to procurement that aims to optimize the value and performance of a group of related products or services. This role is responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies, managing supplier relationships, and delivering savings and benefits for the organization. The main category focus for this position is auxiliary equipment and instrumentation. Mitsubishi Power Americas is a major power generation equipment and storage solutions provider for the energy industry. The role involves identifying strategic suppliers in the power generation equipment space, leading cross-functional evaluations to determine the best supplier fit for the Mitsubishi Power Turbine solution, and implementing strategic supplier agreements in coordination with business approval processes. Key Responsibilities
Support and implement a 5-year ecosystem supplier strategy, capacity, and capability aligned with business unit and partners. Develop and manage relationships with power generation equipment advanced technology suppliers, evaluating current state of the art and future technologies in early-stage development. Perform category management and strategic sourcing within the power generation industry (gas and steam turbine equipment, generators, HRSGs, and related systems and services). Lead supplier evaluations with cross-functional teams, considering product fit, service capability, technical evaluation, manufacturing capacity, risk, quality, cost competitiveness, and IP position. Serve as liaison between strategic suppliers, Mitsubishi project teams, engineering and service teams, and EPC partners to integrate supplier products or services into Mitsubishi Power equipment solutions. Analyze data such as market research, spend analysis, supplier performance, and stakeholder feedback. Implement cost-out ideas and drive standardization. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and manage ongoing supplier relationships. Identify vendors for highly technical commodities meeting price, quality, quantity, availability, and delivery criteria. Review long-range forecasts and usage cycles to create procurement strategies. Create value through relationship management, supplier excellence, and development projects to reduce cost and lead time; collaborate with other Mitsubishi group companies to find savings opportunities. Work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve objectives, engaging and influencing needs and priorities. Lead and drive category performance to deliver value and results for the organization. Represent Mitsubishi Power in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers. Monitor supplier production capacity and establish buyer capacity plans. Collaborate with Buyers and the overall Supply Chain Team to resolve conflicts as required. Develop, evaluate, and refine highly complex commercial and technical bids; write and issue technical bid invitations or RFPs and review quotes with stakeholders for awards. Requirements
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university (MBA preferred); four (4) years of supply chain experience; or eight (8) years of supply chain experience with a specialty in commodities management; or an equivalent combination. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials, engineering drawings, specifications, and related documents; ability to write reports and present information to managers, clients, and others.
