As the Vice President – Consumer Product Compliance, this position will lead a team that provides strategic compliance oversight and advisory support to the U.S. Consumer business. This leader will ensure that the business manages and mitigates the regulatory risk in all jurisdictions in which it operates.
The role leads a diverse team of 1LOD Compliance professionals who oversee various aspects of the business and requires strong collaboration with other stakeholder groups including the 2LOD Compliance team, Controls Management and the General Counsel’s Organization.
This role is a highly visible and strategic position that maintains regular interactions with senior leaders and external regulatory examiners as appropriate.
Responsibilities
Implementation of compliance policy and regulatory requirements applicable to the business Providing business specific compliance expertise, particularly in relation to identifying where compliance and regulatory risk is present in BU process and controls. Lead compliance review of disclosures, marketing, digital journeys, and other customer-facing materials. Oversight for executing impact assessments for regulatory changes impacting the BU and coordinating and implementing changes for the BU as required Responsible for compliance metrics tracking and reporting for the BU. The role will also own, draft, and update BU compliance procedures. The role will coordinate, execute and provide consultation to the business through the New Product Approval (NPA) process. Supporting drafting NPA risk assessment and managing all related due diligence steps. Assisting with the RCSA process inclusive of risk assessments, applicable regulation tagging, and control design activities. Also, identification of gaps in compliance risk mitigation elements. Advising leaders on areas of emerging risk and approaches to improve necessary controls and practices as appropriate. Support issue assessment and remediation efforts. Required Qualifications
Deep regulatory knowledge of all regulations and laws applicable to the consumer business Prior consumer compliance, legal or risk experience is a must. Strong relationship and leadership skills with proven ability to communicate and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization. Ability to exercise good judgment in the development and pursuit of compliant solutions. Prior experience of leading and developing high performing teams is a plus. Excellent written, verbal, research, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Strong project management skills, ability to lead multiple projects and support multiple priorities simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to make decisions independently, work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt easily to frequent change. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred, CRCM Certification preferred Employment eligibility to work with American Express in the U.S is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.
