Monday - Friday, 30 hours/week on average. Hours may be adjusted as workload fluctuates. Pay:

$24.52-$25.75/hour Position Overview:

The Dedicated Aide works with an individual student that needs academic, emotional, and/or behavioral support. The Aide reinforces learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff. The Aide performs clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified staff. The Aide supports a student with special needs throughout the school day by making the curriculum and daily activities accessible for the student. Responsibilities: Plan and implement educational services for students . Duties may include:

Assisting the student to participate in lessons, projects, and assessments Alerts the certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student Performs assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, play periods, and on field trips Regularly observing students and taking anecdotal notes to inform certified staff / school teams on student progress

Implement student assessment and manage student behavior . Duties may include:

Using a variety of instructional materials, resources, and experiences to enrich student learning Using appropriate techniques and strategies that promote and enhance the student’s creative problem-solving and evaluative thinking

Create a safe environment and be committed to student’s learning . Duties may include:

Creating a safe environment by accommodating developmental and learning requirements Using positive affect and communication techniques sensitive to the child’s needs A deep commitment to a child’s developmental and educational progress

Contribute to school and individual team development . Duties may include:

Attending WYY staff development to reinforce student learning Supporting the classroom teacher in monitoring student progress Working with families to support the progress of individual students Establishing positive relationships with colleagues, students, families and the community

Qualifications, Skills, & Qualities: Experience with students who have emotional and behavioral challenges (required); experience with special needs or autism is preferred but not required Experience with linguistically and ethnically diverse student populations and children with developmental differences Excellent oral and written communication skills Engaging with students and partnering with stakeholders: lead classroom teachers, parents, and colleagues Commitment to professional growth and eagerness to learn Dedication to the well-being and success of all students Patience, flexibility, and willingness to take risks Reflective teaching practice Teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting Collaborates and Consults With: Teaching staff Administrative staff All levels of management Terms of Employment:

10 Months, Hourly Contract Physical Demands: Remain rationally detached when working with children with behavioral and emotional issues Position involves stamina to withstand multiple physical, emotional, and mental demands Use physical strength to lift, move, carry, pull or push equipment and/or student(s) Sit, stand, walk, and run for required periods Speak and hear; use close vision, color vision, and depth perception Communicate effectively in English Reach with hands and arms; handle objects and operate tools Environmental Demands: Exposure to illnesses and weather conditions Exposure to facilities with varying temperatures and cleaning chemicals Function in a workspace with varying noise levels Note: Washington Yu Ying PCS reserves the right to change policies and this job description as needed.
