Monday - Friday Description

The Associate Director of Development, Regional Engagement develops, manages and executes alumni engagement efforts within key markets and builds a sustainable presence for the University within target regions. This includes cultivating and managing relationships with UC San Diego alumni in key geographic regions. Under the leadership of the Senior Director, Alumni Engagement and Outreach, the Associate Director plays a critical role in increasing personal contact with alumni across the region, with the goal of fostering connectedness to the University through meaningful engagement opportunities that inspire and deepen annual philanthropic support of the portfolio, including LYBUNT/SYBUNT alumni donors. The incumbent manages relationships with internal and external constituencies and works with various publics or interest groups as appropriate. The incumbent will also cultivate and manage relationships with three undergraduate colleges on campus, partnering with the provosts of those colleges to engage students and alumni and develop programming to support philanthropic activity. The Associate Director develops qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies for the portfolio, identifies and qualifies new annual giving prospects, and develops and executes cultivation and solicitation plans for gifts up to $25K or above. It includes outlining multi-year plans to engage alumni through programs, soliciting annual gifts and recurring gifts, and qualifying as major donor prospects where possible to deepen advocacy and volunteer service. To accomplish these goals, the Associate Director collaborates with Alumni Engagement and Advancement colleagues, UC San Diego Alumni Board, and College Provosts to foster a long-term dialogue that advances the role of alumni. The role integrates programs including annual giving, university development, undergraduate colleges, academic divisions, and vice chancellor areas, and interfaces with senior leadership, donors, volunteers and board members. Qualifications

Knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques. Advanced written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to establish and maintain relationships and to secure gifts. Experience in the full spectrum of development activities including gift policies, solicitations, stewardship, donor recognition, and administration. Ability to develop and implement persuasive cultivation ideas and provide critical analysis with sound judgment for prospects and donors. Strong written and oral communication skills with correct grammar, syntax, and formatting, capable of presenting to potential donors. Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with colleagues, donors, volunteers, and University officials with tact, diplomacy, professionalism and discretion. Experience managing, planning and staffing donor events. Experience collaborating with and coordinating meetings with Senior Leadership and/or Academic Leaders. Special Conditions

Job offer contingent upon satisfactory background check. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required. Travel for meetings and events may be required. This position is identified as a Mandated Reporter under CANRA and requires training to fulfill reporting responsibilities where applicable. Pay Transparency and Benefits

Pay Transparency Act: Annual Full Pay Range: $108,100 - $204,900 (prorated if appointment percentage
