Habitat for Humanity New York City and Westchester County is seeking a dynamic, results-driven
Interim Vice President of Resource Development
to lead and scale our fundraising strategy during a critical period of growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a key member of the leadership team, the Interim VP will drive efforts to meet and exceed a $5.5M philanthropic goal, while laying the foundation for long-term revenue expansion. This is an interim role and the term is expected to be 1 year (September 2025–September 2026). Responsibilities
Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support Habitat NYC & Westchester’s mission, with particular emphasis on major donors, corporate partners, and foundation grants. Cultivate and steward a portfolio of high-level donors and prospects, including individuals capable of transformational gifts. Lead and mentor a high-performing development team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Align development goals with organizational priorities, ensuring appropriate resource mobilization for current and future initiatives. Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors on high-level donor engagement, including strategic planning, solicitation, and stewardship. Oversee development budget and forecasting, and provide regular progress reports to the CEO and Board. Responsible for the general supervision, hiring and development of the department’s staff including; scheduling needs; coach and counsel of subordinates; accurately monitor the performance standards of each staff member and evaluate team members on promoting cooperative, productive behavior. Work in close coordination with the Marketing and Communications team to design compelling fundraising collateral and event sponsorship materials. Represent Habitat NYC & Westchester externally to donors, partners, and the philanthropic community. Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of progressive fundraising experience with demonstrable success securing major gifts and cultivating donor relationships; experience in the New York City and/or Westchester philanthropic community strongly preferred. Proven ability to develop and execute high-level fundraising strategies, campaigns, and donor engagement plans. Strong leadership and management skills, including experience supervising a team and building organizational fundraising capacity. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including persuasive storytelling and donor-facing messaging. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and mission-driven environment with competing priorities. Comfortable working closely with senior executives, board members, and external stakeholders. Proficient in fundraising databases (Raiser's Edge preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or fundraising certifications a plus. Location & Hours
This position is a hybrid in-person and work-from-home model to better build cross-divisional strengths with team members and partner organizations. Leadership Team members are expected to be in person for a minimum of two days per week (in-office or on-site). Travel locally to sites across NYC and Westchester County; ReStore in Yonkers, NY. Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, with evenings and weekends as required. Administrative Offices
