VP, Operations
Work Arrangement This is an onsite position with occasional travel.
Job Overview The Vice President of Operations is accountable for achieving the financial objectives and customer satisfaction of the Tactical Systems business as it relates to production operations. This key position is part of the Tactical Systems business unit senior leadership team and reports directly to the business unit Senior Vice President. The VP of Operations will report on key performance indicators (KPIs), drive operational excellence within the functional departments and establish a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. To achieve these objectives, the VP of Operations will lead the following functions and direct reports as well as oversee the employees reporting to each direct report: Manufacturing, Production Control, Supply Chain, Logistics, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing Engineering Support.
Essential Functions
Oversee the Production Control and accountability for the cross-functional Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, including the timely issuance of production work orders, status of units in production and variances; for each variance to plan, develop and implement mitigation plans to recover schedule through the Production Control Manager.
Oversee the Manufacturing team and accountability for hiring, training, supervision, and promotion of production technicians to execute work orders in accordance with standard work instructions, at the specified rate, quality, and labor cost within budget parameters. Includes labor planning and scheduling, and time and attendance reporting.
Oversee the Supply Chain team for issuance of purchase order requirements for execution by buyers and corporate procurement; understand suppliers, qualification, supplier management, supplier quality and vendor relations, including contracting with vendors in coordination with corporate procurement and contracting teams.
Oversee the Logistics team for shipping, receiving, material handling, inventory management, accuracy and control, logistics operations and facilities management in accordance with environmental, health, and safety standards and procedures.
Oversee the Quality department and accountability for the company's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure quality issues are identified, diagnosed, and corrective actions are implemented to reduce and eliminate escapes caused by internal or supplier issues.
Oversee the Manufacturing Engineering Support function.
Lead efficient cross-functional weekly meetings with relevant managers and support staff, gather performance updates, and track follow-ups resulting from these processes.
Identify performance, quality, and cost issues and opportunities, and alert the SVP of Tactical Systems. Pursue root-cause problem solving and implement corrective actions that mitigate or prevent recurrence, even when changes involve difficult personnel decisions.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Maintain regular and reliable attendance on a full-time basis.
Exhibit professional behavior with internal and external business associates in line with company policies and practices.
Align daily actions with AEVEX’s cultural values and departmental and company goals.
Qualifications and Competencies
Demonstrated experience overseeing cross-functional SIOP, engineering resource planning & scheduling, new product development, new production introduction, and quality management systems, internal audits, and corrective actions.
Experience scaling and executing operations and/or engineering functions in support of government/military contracts, defense acquisitions and procurement contracts, and/or foreign military sales contracts.
Strong time management, problem-solving, organizational, intrapersonal, and communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to cope with stress and competing priorities.

Education / Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or another quantitative field is required.
Postgraduate degree in operations management or MBA is preferred but not required.
Experience
15 - 20 years of career experience in the aerospace & defense manufacturing industry with the most recent in a senior executive position.
Experience leading an operations organization with a minimum of 200 employees.
Recent experience with the production of unmanned systems is desirable.
Experience in aviation-related prototype development and manufacturing industry is desirable.
Experience operating in an ISO 9001/AS9100 (or equivalent) certified manufacturing facility.
