Responsibilities
Project Planning & Initiation
Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
Develop detailed project execution plans (PEP), schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, validation, and quality teams early in planning.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Coordination
Lead cross‑functional teams including architects, engineers, construction managers, QA/QC, validation, and contractors.
Serve as the main point of contact for stakeholders, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
Manage internal project team performance and external consultants.
Construction Management
Oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to design, budget, and schedule.
Manage contractor RFPs, selection, contracts, and performance.
Ensure all construction meets cGMP, FDA, EMA, and EHS standards.
Review and approve design submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
Budget & Schedule Control
Develop and manage project budgets (often $10M–$100M+), including forecasting and cost control.
Monitor project schedules with critical path analysis tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
Mitigate risks that may affect cost or schedule, including scope creep and regulatory delays.
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Coordinate with QA/validation teams for commissioning, qualification, and validation (CQV).
Support audits and regulatory inspections.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain detailed documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide regular progress reports for executive leadership and stakeholders.
Track KPIs, milestones, and performance metrics.
Qualifications
10 to 15 years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 5 years in pharmaceutical construction
Bachelor’s degree in construction management and/or related field
Excellent written and verbal communication
Highly proficient in CM applications, including Procore, Vista, Bluebeam, and Microsoft applications
Advanced, teachable understanding of CM theories – company mission, vision, and goals; identity, branding, business development
