This role is the domain expert for mechanical commodities and is responsible for securing critical components, materials, and services to power Anduril products. The Senior Category Manager (internally: Senior Strategic Sourcing Manager) develops supplier and sourcing partnerships for new and existing products, coordinating cross-functional efforts to ensure commercial agreements, intellectual property, and statements of work are accurate and established prior to pipelining. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Develop and execute commodity strategies for mechanical casting, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supply chain resilience End-to-end responsibility for delivering quality parts, when needed, at the right cost Act as the sourcing expert for mechanical casting manufacturing Lead RFI/RFQ/RFP and strategic sourcing processes for mechanical casting Own the business relationship with external contract manufacturers and manage continuity of supply, risk, cost negotiations, and NPI to MP operation execution Partner with Engineering and Contract Manufacturers to influence technical design specs and manufacturing requirements Perform detailed analysis of quote submissions based on cost breakdown and conduct data-driven decisions using total cost of ownership Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support prototype requirements, milestones, and sourcing activities Influence CM manufacturing processes, CapEx, and technology decisions Negotiate key supplier agreements to establish pricing, quality, flexibility, delivery, payment, warranty, and service terms Coordinate internally to negotiate tradeoffs, encourage cooperation, and advance new supplier or product offerings Provide technical direction within the commodity and guide product strategy through the lifecycle Lead supplier performance management across delivery, quality, cost, and innovation metrics Serve as the primary escalation point for the commodity REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, or related technical field 5+ years of experience in supply chain commodity management of mechanical casting manufacturing or sourcing engineering Ability to travel up to 50% of the time Ability to relocate to onsite in Costa Mesa, CA if not local PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering Experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, high tech, or related industry Well-versed in total cost of ownership analysis to support data-driven supplier selection Strategic thinker with experience creating commodity roadmaps with engineering stakeholders Proven leadership and ability to collaborate cross-functionally at all levels Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance US Salary Range: $128,000 - $192,000 USD The salary range is an estimate based on compensation factors including base salary; actual offers vary with experience and qualifications.
