Overview
Base pay range: $140,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr About BKF Engineers: The Water Resources Business Sector serves public works departments and water/wastewater utilities in California, with a focus on growth in water systems, recycled water, wastewater, and stormwater/flood. The Project Manager - Water System Design will play a key role in developing, managing, and growing the water system design team within BKF's Water Resources sector. This position is equivalent to a Principal Engineer in other firms and offers significant career growth and leadership opportunities. Required experience includes designing water system infrastructure, project planning/engineering/management, client relations, business development, and staff management. Responsibilities
Perform complex engineering tasks, including designs, reports, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, opinions of probable cost, and construction scheduling for various projects. Serve as project manager or team member on larger water infrastructure design and construction projects. Review design work products for compliance with engineering principles, firm standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Develop proposals and budgets for engineering efforts. Meet with clients to determine project scope, estimate staffing requirements, and prepare fees for signature. Develop and maintain client contact before, during, and after project completion; cultivate client relationships directly and through industry involvement. Maintain workload forecasts for all projects under personal management and balance workload across staff with other engineers and managers. Assist in mentoring and training Design and Project Engineers. Requirements
Bachelor\'s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering. 10+ years of municipal and/or private water utility water infrastructure design experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with CAD and GIS. California PE licensure, or licensure in another state with ability to obtain CA PE license within 12 months. Preferred Education and/or Experience
Experience and expertise in pump station and storage tank engineering design. Master\'s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering. Interest in taking on leadership roles in technical, staff development, or business development within the Water Resources sector. Ability to provide engineering design support on recycled water, wastewater, and stormwater/flood projects. Out-of-office travel with occasional evening and overnight assignments may be required. Must be able to regularly talk, hear, operate a computer, keyboard and mouse; may occasionally lift, pull/push, and carry up to 20 pounds with accommodations. Work Conditions
