Associate Vice President, ESG Data Operations
Overview This role works with business stakeholders and ESG leads to provide solutions supporting ESG data needs, collection, and reporting. The ideal candidate has experience in strategic data planning, data integrity and governance, and the ability to respond to future business needs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
Engage with ESG leads to evaluate needs, clarify and document requirements, and help design solutions with the application development team by translating business requirements into functional requirements. Design, develop and evolve the ESG Data Model framework in collaboration with the technology team. Promote and implement data governance across systems and processes. Manage data upload/entry into relevant systems, perform initial checks for omissions and accuracy, and liaise with data owners to resolve issues. Analyze large datasets and effectively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders and team members. Conduct outlier analysis to identify drivers of data issues and inform ESG metrics and reporting needs. Understand challenges in integrating investment management data and collaborate with IT to build a roadmap for aggregating ESG data and reporting requirements across the business. Work with legal, compliance and audit to scope documentation for ESG investment processes, fund-specific requirements, and global regulations. Ensure ESG disclosure requirements are vetted and implemented in a well-controlled end-to-end process. General Requirements
Flexibility to coordinate with team members across time zones (NY, LA, London). Analytical mindset with a passion for improving efficiency of processes. Dependable, proactive, motivated team player. Technical skills: Strong Excel skills. Familiarity with institutional asset management research, trading workflows, and data points across asset classes. Experience with relational databases; proficient in SQL; knowledge of Python and/or willingness to learn. Experience connecting with third-party APIs is preferred but not required. ESG data experience: Support implementation of new systems and upgrades related to data collection, governance, and process design. Experience with ESG data in Direct Lending, Private Equity, Real Estate, or support for all asset classes’ data requirements. Assist with ESG data vendor searches for system refreshes or implementations. Identify scalable ESG vendors for pre-investment due diligence, data collection, and post-investment monitoring. Project management: Desirable Agile project management experience; ability to build, maintain, and execute project plans and keep stakeholders informed. Ability to take responsibility for project deliverables. Qualifications
Education Bachelor’s degree in finance or a related business field. Experience Minimum 10 years of experience in high-quality, global capital markets or investment management firms with expertise in Data Operations. Experience in Investment Operations, Fund Accounting, IT, or Software Development lifecycle preferred. Prior experience with an alternative asset manager is preferred; broader asset management experience is a plus. Experience with Tableau, SQL, or Power BI. Hedge fund, Credit, or Private Equity experience is a plus. Reporting Relationships Principal, Data & Pricing Compensation
The anticipated base salary range is $150,000 – $175,000, with total compensation potentially including a discretionary performance-based bonus. The salary range reflects a broad spectrum of qualifications and experience.
