Fit Recruiting seeks a
Vice President of Accounting
to join a successful real estate, development, and management company in Mobile, Alabama. This key leadership role involves overseeing the company's accounting functions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the VP of Accounting will ensure accurate financial reporting, establish strong internal controls, and maintain regulatory compliance. The VP will also play a vital role in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning to support the company's ongoing growth and development. Salary ranges up to $120K, depending on experience, plus benefits and opportunities for advancement. Base pay range
$115.00/yr - $120.00/yr Responsibilities
Lead and manage the accounting team, including the Controller and Accounts Receivable Analyst. Oversee all core accounting operations: accounts payable, accounts receivable, the general ledger, and monthly close processes. Review and analyze financial statements; prepare executive summaries and insights for leadership decision-making. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and strong internal controls. Drive the annual budgeting and financial forecasting processes; provide proactive analysis and scenario planning. Coordinate and manage annual audits and tax filings in partnership with external auditors and tax advisors. Oversee the accounting system and technology infrastructure; lead upgrades and automation efforts to improve reporting and efficiency. Support executive management with financial modeling, special projects, and strategic initiatives. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred. CPA certification required. Minimum 8-10 years of progressive accounting and financial leadership experience, preferably within real estate or development. Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards. Strong technical proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Proven experience managing teams, implementing systems, and driving process improvements. Previous experience in a Controller or similar leadership role preferred. Familiarity with real estate financial modeling and real estate software such as Yardi. Experience with debt financing, loan compliance, and financial analysis for real estate development projects. Knowledge of tax regulations related to commercial real estate. Ability to adapt and implement evolving technology solutions. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Required Skills
