Overview
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Property Accountant in Rockville, MD. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Property Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial management of a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background and experience in property or real estate accounting, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger and reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable related to property operations
Track and record tenant billings, and rent collections
Assist in annual budget preparation and periodic forecasting
Prepare year-end audit work papers and support external auditors
Review lease agreements and ensure accurate rent and escalation charges are recorded
Monitor cash flow and provide variance analysis reports as needed
Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in property or real estate accounting
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, or similar)
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable. The amount and availability of any compensation remains in Kforce's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified in its discretion consistent with the law.
