We are seeking a Cost Accountant for one of the leading biotech organizations in the San Diego area. This role will support the technical and operational aspects of cost and inventory accounting, including determining actual manufacturing costs and analyzing company expenses and profitability. The position involves close collaboration with manufacturing, inventory control, purchasing, and other departments. This position will be a Temp to Hire opportunity to start immediately. Responsibilities:

Manage the cost accounting system, including all related documents and records. Process monthly journal entries. Help manage and confirm inventory records. Maintain and update depreciation and prepaid schedules. Analyze depreciation, labor, and overhead rates to recommend policy changes for improved accuracy. Establish and update standard costs as needed. Analyze raw material and supply costs. Prepare regular reports comparing standard manufacturing costs to actual production costs. Process transactions for our Tijuana and San Diego production facilities and reconcile their general ledger accounts. Monitor and track shipping costs for different product lines. Assist with month-end close and annual audits. Support the implementation of a new ERP system. Ensure all financial statements comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Generate ad-hoc reports for management. Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the Accounting/Finance field, including 3 years of cost accounting. Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate Excel skills (Pivot Tables, Vlookup, SumIf, etc.) Knowledge of QuickBooks, Acumatica, or other accounting software. Experience with ERP systems. Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills. Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages. Experience in manufacturing warehouses or facilities. Familiarity with the biotech or medical manufacturing industries is a plus. Travel to the Tijuana manufacturing plant as needed. Medical insurance, Vision insurance, and 401(k) are offered.
