Overview
Professional Surveyor and Mapper (0167) (Hybrid) – Base pay range $57,875.00/yr - $84,583.48/yr Join our Data Collection Bureau. Support the District’s Data Collection Bureau using your surveying and mapping expertise. The Professional Surveyor and Mapper will be responsible for post processing field data, working with other bureaus to help create effective and efficient scope of work outlines for outsourced survey consultants, and reviewing outsourced survey deliverables for conformance with state laws and District survey requirements. This role may involve signing and sealing survey deliverables and directing field crews on various projects and survey types. The District is a government agency whose mission is to protect water resources, minimize flood risks, and ensure the public’s water needs are met. Responsibilities
Post-process field data and review field notes and electronic data files for completeness and plotting. Coordinate data and prepare worksheets and files in the proper format for survey crews; review outsourced survey deliverables for conformance with state laws and District survey requirements. Review field crew work results, resolve issues, and perform surveying calculations on geometric problems; compute control, traverses, closures, acreage, and other trigonometric/survey calculations. Sign and seal survey deliverables (where eligible) and direct field crews on various projects and survey types. Provide training and assistance in the use of available software, hardware, and field instruments/equipment. Office processing and CADD production for surveying and mapping projects. Work 80% in office and 20% in the field, performing professional work as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of surveying and mapping principles, Florida statutes, Florida Administrative Code, and County rules. Proficiency with COGO and CADD software; skilled in surveying and drafting/CADD instruments. Ability to read and interpret complex surveying/engineering plans; operate and process field surveying instruments; reduce and plot field notes; perform computations. Strong project management, customer service, and communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team; ability to meet project schedules. Proficient with Civil 3D and surveying software such as Leica Infinity and Trimble Business Center. Registration as a Professional Surveyor and Mapper in Florida (or eligibility and plan to obtain within specified timeframe). Qualifications
Surveying and Mapping Professional 4: Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, surveying engineering technology, civil engineering, or related field; five years of experience; Florida PSM registration within two years of hire; valid driver’s license. Surveying and Mapping Professional 5: Bachelor’s degree in geomatics, surveying engineering technology, civil engineering, or related field; ten years of experience; Florida PSM registration; valid driver’s license. Working Conditions
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, perform outdoor work, and travel within the District’s coverage area. May require on-call hours outside of regular schedule. Reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities. Compensation and Benefits
Compensation: Surveying and Mapping Professional 4 $57,875.00 - $84,583.48; Surveying and Mapping Professional 5 $61,254.00 - $90,099.68. Florida Retirement System (FRS) District Total Contribution 13.63% and a comprehensive benefits package (holidays, leave, health, life, disability, and more).
