Full-time, Exempt Position Overview The Human Resources Director will lead and manage all aspects of HR for a growing heavy construction company. This role requires both strategic leadership and hands-on expertise in HR systems, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. The HR Director will partner with senior leadership to design and implement policies that strengthen workforce engagement, ensure compliance, and support long-term organizational growth. Key Responsibilities HR Leadership & Strategy: Develop and oversee HR policies and programs that align with company objectives and industry best practices; Advise executives on workforce planning, employee engagement, and retention strategies. Systems & HRIS Management: Manage and optimize BambooHR for personnel data, recruiting, onboarding, performance tracking, and reporting; Ensure accuracy of HR data and provide actionable workforce metrics. Benefits & Compensation: Oversee 401(k) plan administration and compliance in partnership with external vendors; Manage health, dental, vision, disability, and other employee benefits programs; Provide competitive benchmarking and recommend updates to compensation and benefits packages. Employee Relations & Policy Enforcement: Ensure consistent application of company policies across office, project management, and field teams; Lead investigations, resolve workplace disputes, and support managers with employee relations issues; Deliver training to managers and supervisors on policies and employment law requirements. Talent Acquisition & Retention: Direct recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding processes for all personnel; Collaborate with field operations to maintain a reliable and skilled workforce. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to all federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, EEO, and safety regulations; Maintain accurate HR records and prepare for compliance audits. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s or HR certifications (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) preferred. 7+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally within construction, skilled trades, or similar industries. Proficiency with BambooHR or similar HRIS platforms. Strong knowledge of 401(k) administration and benefits management. Proven ability to develop and enforce employment policies across a diverse workforce. Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
