Save Job

Exhausted by long hours, overwhelming caseloads, and the feeling that nothing’s getting better? Or maybe you are a solo practitioner and you find yourself buried in admin, chasing business, and barely stepping foot in the courtroom? When you’re stretched too thin for too long, it can feel like you’re giving everything you’ve got and getting nothing back. You became a criminal trial lawyer to

fight for people , to stand beside them when everything is on the line, to win the cases that change lives. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice yourself in the process. We understand because we’ve been where you are. We learned, grew, and we built a better way. The Opportunity Mirador Law is seeking a seasoned criminal trial attorney who wants to continue doing high-stakes work with the support and resources to pursue justice, while managing a reasonable caseload that ensures you get balance. What We Offer Real Trial Work

- We’re not a volume shop. You’ll still be in the courtroom trying serious felonies. Manageable Caseload

- Dig into each case with time and focus—don’t scramble through 100+ files. Serious Support

- Paralegals, associates, and cutting-edge tech (including AI tools) to back you up. Professional Growth

- Collaborate on strategy with partners who have 35+ years of combined experience as trial lawyers and a successful track record. Elevate your profile with time to speak, serve on boards, organize with other professionals. Become part of a respected team, not just a name on a docket. Culture

- We swear, we laugh, we celebrate. We enjoy doing this and we’re good at it. Our attorneys have been recognized as Super Lawyers and honored as finalists for the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association’s “Trial Attorney of the Year” award (2025). They are widely respected in and out of the courtroom. Who You Are An experienced

trial attorney

with 10+ felony trials under your belt, preferably serious felony trials. Ideally, you'll have 10+ years of practice experience, but the trial experience is just as, if not more, important to us. Likely from a PD’s office or private practice doing court-appointed work. Hungry

to keep sharpening trial skills and grow in private practice; you’re

not looking to coast . Willing to

network

and build lasting referral relationships (We don’t require you to have a book of business, but you should be open to cultivating one. We’ll help. The ideal candidate will take pride in generating business and enhancing their and the firm’s reputations.) Someone who reads juries, judges, clients, and colleagues with

emotional intelligence . Job Description Carry a primarily felony caseload (15–30 felony cases, many serious or life-eligible). Represent clients from start to finish: at arraignment, settlement conferences, hearings, and trials. Research and draft substantive pre-trial/trial motions. Supervise support staff issuing discovery requests, subpoenas and records requests. Work with the criminal defense team to efficiently and effectively identify, obtain, and review discovery and defense evidence. Clearly and compassionately communicate with clients. Collaborate with partners, associates, paralegals, experts, and investigators to execute the defense strategy in each client’s case. Appear in court routinely in Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, and San Francisco counties. Must work onsite in Pleasanton—we are an in-person, collaborative team. The Reality of the Work We believe in balance, but criminal defense is unpredictable. When a client calls during a holiday weekend or at 8 p.m., we go. That’s the job. This isn’t a “remote-first” or “quiet office” kind of practice. We believe the best ideas and strategies happen face-to-face. Collaboration isn’t optional. We believe it’s how we win. Because this business is about people, relationships matter. We go to court in person. We pick up the phone to talk with prosecutors, investigators, experts, and co-counsel. We listen for nuance and are always looking for the small tells. These are the habits that separate good lawyers from great ones, and that’s the kind of lawyering we practice here. Salary and Benefits $155,000 to $185,000 + meaningful annual bonus (Where you fall within this range is dependent on experience, seniority, and demonstrated role ability during the interview process.) 401(k) + 401(k) matching Profit sharing Health insurance Dental and vision insurance Paid sick time Paid holidays Paid time off Disability insurance Reimbursement for annual bar dues Professional Development Budget (annual budget aimed at enabling CLEs and other trainings) Monthly cell phone reimbursement Car insurance stipend Step Into What’s Next We get results: homicides and serious cases dismissed, lives changed. We’re building something significant, and we want an attorney who’s wired the same way—someone who values excellence, teamwork, and impact. This isn’t just a job. It’s a path. A chance to put your reputation next to ours, to grow into leadership, and to finally do the work you love at the level you’ve always wanted. If this sounds like the kind of practice you’ve been waiting for, send us your resume and a writing sample. We are an equal opportunity employer We know diverse perspectives make us stronger. Mirador Law welcomes applicants of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, socio-economic backgrounds, and abilities. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
