Overview Your Role:

The Associate Strategy Director is responsible for applying customer understanding to creative problems to generate brand building ideas with an emphasis on launch brands.

What You Do

Works with little supervision to fulfill job responsibilities including leadership in key strategic initiatives (brand positioning, competitive assessment analysis, customer insight generation, brand personality development, creative brief writing, and messaging strategy)

Partners with other Agency departments to ensure strategic thinking is incorporated in all aspects of the agency’s work

Partners with other Agency departments to ensure customer insight is incorporated into advertising campaigns

Seeks out and gains knowledge of customer preferences and relationships to products and advertising

Participates in creation of effective advertising campaigns

Applies understanding of customer’s relationship with the brand and advertising in the category to the development of brand strategy and creative

Manages research pertaining to strategy and creative development

Sells strategy and creative executions by communicating consumer knowledge to clients

Assists in ensuring the quality of the creative brief and briefing process

Builds positive relationships with clients

Provides insight to clients regarding how customer preference information will enhance creative campaigns

Assists with recruitment and mentoring of Associate Strategists

What You Bring

Bachelor’s degree in related field required

4-6 years of experience in a strategy role in an agency setting

Proven expertise is brand positioning, insight generation, and creative brief writing

Experience leading workshops and facilitating brainstorming sessions

Experience communicating information verbally and in writing required

Location McCann New York team members must reside in or be willing to relocate to the New York Tristate area unless otherwise agreed upon by their manager and McCann New York’s Human Resources team. McCann New York is a hybrid workplace with three days in-office per week.

Salary Range The salary for this position is $130,000 - $145,000. Salary ranges depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; the associated discipline market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.
