Overview

A client of Insight Global is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their Austin, TX team. This role is responsible for investigating and analyzing the properties of soil and rock to determine their suitability for construction projects. The Geotechnical Engineer will manage projects, external stakeholder relationships, provide mentorship, and assist the department leader. Responsibilities include preparing detailed reports and drawings, providing recommendations for foundation design, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Responsibilities

Conduct site visits to collect soil and rock samples. Perform laboratory tests to determine soil properties and behavior. Analyze test data and prepare detailed geotechnical reports. Design foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical structures. Use geotechnical software to model soil behavior and predict performance. Collaborate with civil engineers, architects, and construction teams. Project management responsibilities including but not limited to: monitoring construction sites to ensure compliance with geotechnical recommendations; managing external relationships; project finances; project timeline; QA/QC compliance; successful project execution. Review and approve project plans and specifications. Provide technical support and solutions for geotechnical issues during construction. Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations. Provide mentorship, coaching, and leadership guidance to less tenured employees. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, or related field. Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in geotechnical engineering. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a registered Professional Engineer (PE). Minimum of 2 years of experience as a project manager, managing a project from start to finish. Strong communication skills to mentor junior professionals (e.g., EITs) and demonstrate leadership within the team. Experience in managing external stakeholder relationships and cultivating business partnerships. Nice to have: Master’s degree in civil engineering, geotechnical or related field. Nice to have: Prior leadership experience managing a team of EITs. Nice to have: Robust software experience including Slide, LPile, APILE, TxDOT software – FHWA. EEO and Privacy
