Director of Maintenance Excellence Aggregate role at Cemex U.S. Job Summary
The Director of Maintenance will lead the strategic transformation and standardization of maintenance practices across all CEMEX US Aggregates operations. This role will champion the deployment of a unified Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) framework to improve asset reliability, reduce costs, and elevate safety and operational performance. Reporting to the VP of Operations Support, the Director will oversee both fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance, driving performance improvement through data, process discipline, and a culture of continuous improvement. Responsibilities
Champion the Zero4Life safety philosophy, integrating safety as a non-negotiable element of all maintenance practices and culture. Lead the national implementation and ongoing governance of a CMMS platform to ensure consistent maintenance data, preventive schedules, KPIs, and cost tracking. Design and roll out standardized TPM processes, including autonomous maintenance, preventive/predictive practices, and root cause analysis, tailored for mobile and fixed plant environments. Oversee mobile and fixed plant maintenance strategy, including budgeting, resource planning, vendor management, and capital planning. Partner with regional operations and engineering teams to align maintenance best practices with production goals and equipment lifecycle management. Facilitate training and development of a high-performing team of maintenance managers, supervisors, and mechanics across multiple locations. Ensure all maintenance shops are adequately staffed and equipped to meet standards expectations, with a strong emphasis on skills development and technical training. Develop and maintain KPIs and reporting systems to monitor reliability, cost, downtime, and PM compliance. Drive cost savings and efficiency through vendor negotiations, warranty recovery, and reliability-centered maintenance strategies. Foster collaboration across functions to reduce unplanned downtime and improve asset utilization. Ensure strict compliance with all CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA safety and environmental regulations. Support continuous improvement initiatives and play a key role in national forums or maintenance councils. Meet or exceed company safety standards. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management. Requires some work after normal business hours and on weekends, as well as ability to respond to emergency situations. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered. 7+ years of progressive maintenance leadership in aggregates, mining, construction materials, or heavy industry. Proven experience leading CMMS implementation (e.g., SAP PM, EAM, or other) across a multi-site operation. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Deep understanding and hands-on experience in TPM, Lean Maintenance, or Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM). Strong knowledge of fixed plant equipment, mobile fleet management, and heavy industrial maintenance operations. Familiarity with relevant safety regulations and industry standards (MSHA, OSHA). Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Ability to analyze complex data sets and make strategic decisions to optimize performance. Working Conditions
Role requires up to 50% travel and will require some after hours’ participation in industry related functions Capability to work extended hours as necessary Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors Physical Requirements
