McMillen, Inc. is looking for a
Project Manager
to join our growing construction division. This position is required to travel to projects throughout Southern Central states. This Project Manager role will report to our Operations Manager and be responsible for managing heavy civil jobs ranging from $5M - $75M. The role involves planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. This individual will participate in the conceptual development of construction projects and oversee project-specific organization, scheduling, and implementation, including hard bid, CM, and Design-Build. Responsibilities
Manage mid to large scale projects with moderate to high risk levels. Operate with minimal oversight from the Construction Operations Manager and Director of Construction; participate with VP as necessary during all phases of the project. Oversee multiple construction projects in varying stages of completion. Coordinate with the Construction Operations Manager to ensure project performance aligns with goals. Implement Corporate Safety Policy on all assigned projects. Mentor and guide Assistant Project Managers, Project Assistants, and Project Engineers. Generate Work Plans for all assigned projects. Schedule projects in logical steps and budget time to meet deadlines. Determine labor requirements and work with the manpower coordinator to dispatch workers to sites. Inspect and review projects for compliance with building and safety codes and other regulations. Explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients, representing the owner or developer. Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions and additions with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Obtain necessary permits and licenses or coordinate with environmental/regulatory staff to ensure proper compliance before mobilization. Fill in for Project Superintendents as necessary to direct and supervise workers. Study job specifications to determine general requirements and construction methods. Requisition supplies and materials to complete projects. Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress/cost tracking reports. Develop and implement quality control programs. Address delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction sites. Consult with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction problems. Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Investigate damage, accidents, or delays to ensure proper procedures are followed. Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans using computers. Provide Project Management duties on multi-faceted projects including leading medium to large-scale Design-Build projects. Review owner contracts and project estimates at various design phases (e.g., 30%, 60%). Provide constructability reviews and coordinate with design engineers to incorporate constructability into final design. Prepare outgoing correspondence to clients, subcontractors, and other outside entities with accuracy and professionalism. Review, edit, and ensure documents submitted to clients conform to McMillen formatting. Assist in preparing Owner Payment Applications. Provide Project Closeout Documents to facilitate substantial completion and warranty periods; track projects through the warranty period and deliver final closeout documentation. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management (CM), or related field, or minimum of 5 years of comparable experience. Minimum 5–8 years of experience with heavy civil design-build projects managing all aspects from design, approvals, procurement, construction, and implementation. Compensation Package
Pay Range: 107,634 – 134,543 (DOE) Benefits: Full benefits program including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, FSA, EAP, 401(k) with match, 9 paid holidays, generous PTO, potential stock ownership, wellness reimbursement, and vehicle-related benefits.
