Overview

Dollar General is hiring for a Store Manager role. Responsible for the management of all employees in the effective planning and implementation of store processes, including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. Responsibilities

Recruit, select and retain qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and company policies; ensure store is properly staffed. Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; identify gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination. Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement. Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinate meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies. Ensure store is adequately staffed and opened/closed each day; personally open the store a minimum of two times per week and close a minimum of two times per week. Evaluate operating statements to identify business trends (sales, profitability, turn), expense control opportunities, shrink, and errors. Order to meet or exceed in-stock targets; review ordering plan, seasonal direction and inventory management issues; follow up on Basic Stock Replenishment (BSR)/cycle counts. Facilitate efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise following defined company work processes; ensure proper presentation, pricing and signage. Maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls. Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, and adherence to cash control procedures. Provide superior customer service leadership; maintain a clean, organized store and a safe environment; ensure tools and equipment are available as needed. Follow company policies and procedures and complete all paperwork and documentation on time. Qualifications and Skills

Knowledge of cash handling procedures, inventory management and merchandising practices. Ability to read and interpret documents; mathematical calculations including percentages. Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance. Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, SAFE program, etc.). Good organizational skills with attention to detail; problem-solving abilities with limited standardization. Ability to read diagrams and safety rules; experience with IBM cash register functions to generate reports. Certain store locations may prefer bilingual Spanish speakers. WORK EXPERIENCE and/or EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred. One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred. COMPETENCIES: Aligns motives and values with Dollar General values; fosters cooperation and collaboration. Acts as a liaison between the corporate office and store employees; demonstrates responsiveness to customer needs. Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping and kneeling; occasional climbing. Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment; lifting up to 40 pounds regularly and up to 55 pounds occasionally.
